trellis

I wonder if anyone can point me the way to a Trellis Quilt. It was written in French. Someone posted a link to it here some months ago now. It was a WH size. I thought I had saved it. I have tried googling it but no luck. Hope someone else was cleverer than me and saved it.TIA

It's also called "Around The Twist". I have the pattern in a book about 20 (???) years old.

A very similar quilt with directions in English . This is an easier pattern than it first appears.

I have EQ5 and haven't used it for 2 years so thought I'd try to draw Trellis in it and also a narrower twist as well... Well, I've forgotten how to use EQ5!!!!!! My problem is that the block layout showed graph paper layout ( a grid w/ 24 divisions ) and when I tried to draw lines to make a snowball block the cursor would jump a square...grr...and never could remedy it...Guess I'll have to start at Chapter 1 again. I've already bought EQ6 about a year ago but have yet to get a new computer. Why can't what we've learned stick ???? At this point graph paper would be so much easier . Mary

This pattern is an alternating arrangement of 2 blocks in the EQ library..... Bright Hopes and Snowball (9-patch form) the only tricky bit is the outside part which are partial snowballs. I used this combo, but on point to do a quilt with fussy cut snowballs. That was a bit of a pain, because I had to cut the snowball squares on point. Plus figure out the odd bits on the setting triangles to get the border to sort of work out. Need to finish it up and get it posted.

Not sure what you mean by a "slimmer" trellis, but it does look good with applique on it. Or fussy cut snowballs that have lots of flowers for the center blocks, with outer blocks having more "open" space with the floral.

Thanks, Pati...I did look for the Bright Hopes block...ran out of patience , didn't know what it was called anyway and gave it only a bit of a look anyway before I decided to try and draw my own...honestly , not using this program for a couple of years wasn't a good thing ! The narrower part that I thought I'd try is the rectangle in the Bright Hopes block...thought I'd try to make them narrower just to see what that looks like and made up as a quilt. It was just a thought. When I see what so many people have done with simple blocks...changing them or using diff fabrics than what is "typical" I am trying to think outside the block !...you know.. What if I do this..or that to the block...., etc. !!! When I see what some designers come up with, I think. ".Why didn't I think of that ..or why didn't I at least try something diff. !!" I did make the trellis quilt about 15 years ago...using Trudy Hughes book and it worked out like a charm --Just thought of trying my hand at something different ...Thanks again !! In Vermont where it is rain rain and more rain !!! ..Mary

I like this thinking out loud. I might try narrower trellises too. Thanks for the idea.

The traditional Bright Hopes block is based on a nine patch block. Just remove the seam between pairs of blocks to form rectangles. To make it with narrower rectangles, I would probably start with a 4x4 grid, make the rectangles one square wide by 3 squares long, the center piece would be a 2x2 square. Then make your snowballs on the same grid, with corners at the quarter point instead of the third point of the sides. It does give a different look to the quilt.
