So last Thursday...I was not sure I could restrain throwing something at my instructor..for 9 weeks we have been cutting out triangles and matching points..well last Thursday...she showed us the quick way to do triangles..guess it is the right of passage for newbees...man..could screamed! I was gonna take a break between classes but there is a workshop once a week where I can go and just work on what I want to...so its 4 weeks of workshop and then back to classes in January....why do I go around all the time thinking how much I want to do and how little time..oh well makes me appreciate my time

Wait until you hear this then. I went through the same rite of passage but recently was introduced to these roles of triagle paper that make the process sooo easy. There are a few sizes avail and I found them at my local quilt shop. : )
Sometimes cutting triangles is the way to go if you want something really scrappy. However, there are some tricks to keep things lined up, the points trimmed and the tip from getting sucked down into the machine. I hope the teacher shared.
A wonderful book that I highly recommend is "The Art of Classic Quiltmaking" by Harriet Hargrave and Sharyn Craig. They show several methods for making flying geese and half square triangles and such and then show many different ways to arrange the units. Very good instructions and good eye candy too.
