Wow! I'd be as proud of creating a space like this as I would be of completing a quilt. It's really something. Enjoy!

What a wonderful room. I so envy you. Because your studio is fantastic, I imagine the rest of the house is too. Could you please put some pics up, I love all the woodwork too.

As all the others have said, your work room is a piece of art! Love it, love it, love it and I am green with envy considering I'm working in a little 4x8 space. Yours is a quilters dream. Congratulations on putting together such a fabulous studio...surely some beautiful work will result because of it! Donna

I love it. How envious I am that you have all those wonderful windows. I normally just hate paneling, but it really works in there, makes your cabinets look as if they'd always been there. I want one like it. Gen

Leslie, that is so beautiful! All that wonderful light, I'd KILL for those windows! I hope you have lots and lots of wonderful sewing time in there. Tile floors, oh, it's just perfect.

Jealous, jealous, jealous, jealous!

Howdy!

Yeah, what SandyF said. Fortunate to have that space, & wonderful. Space, storage, convenience. Yee-haw!

After telling us about your former homes, & thoughts on maybe building a home to fit your needs, what made you choose this house? Did you drive by it for years and think, "Someday I'd like to have THAT house!"? Or did this just become available, you took a look and said, "Oh? OH?!? OOOOOH!" ? Just wondering.

Anyway, cool pics, neat set-up. Nice. Niiiiiice!

R/Sandy -also wondering how you're handling the steps...

Really great sewing room, Leslie!

What a great idea to buy cabinets one at a time. i never would've thought of that. I agree w/Roberta. A pull down design wall like a movie screen would be perfect. or an old movie screen on a stand, if you could get one at a camera store or ebay, cover it with flannel or felt would be great.

now...go make a mess and have fun in your new play room!!! =)

R/Sandy- I looked at maybe twenty houses and this one grabbed me as soon as I walked in. I love old houses and I wanted something 'different' this time around- I had a rather standard ranch style house the last time. I've had a LOT of challenges here- lots of plumbing woes, a neglected yard, tons of interior painting and some remodeling and insufficient electrical service (100 amp for those who know) with few outlets and overhead lighting. It took some adjusting since I've always custom-built my homes or bought a nearly new one. But I'm loving the tall ceilings, hardwood floors and all the unique features. The steps are okay- my hip is doing great... other than it creaks once in a while. Strange.... other people can hear it, too! LOL

The blue 'boxes' are actually rectangular baskets with more quilt related 'stuff' in them. I ran out of storage in that room- lots of UFOs and other seldom used quilting stuff are in the upstairs bedrooms- which I don't use

*except* for storage. I have lots of storage under the eaves, but it's not very convenient to store my quilting goodies since the staircase is at the opposite end of the house from the studio. And with 10 ft. ceilings, the staircase is a l-o-n-g one!

They already hang out in there- the slate floor is very cool against their tummies! Maybe they'll move out when winter get here?
