Organizing my Quilting Studio

Periodically I get on a spree to Organize the Studio!! I usually find some fabric, or a quilt design, or an embellishment that sets me on a new project, so the Studio is never quite finished. This time I am just working in Zones, not trying to Do the Whole Shebang. So, I thought you'd like to see a picture of my closet!

I clearly have too much c***. I had it mostly organized. Sort of. When I first got the room put together. But then I started to do a project and then everything went where it always goes -- over chair backs, in the floor bins and on the floor itself. Grrrrrrrr. Well at least I can shut the door and nobody sees. But DH always brings people down and shows them the room. He says he loves it because it looks like me and he thinks it's wonderful. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, LOL.

Organization is a sign of a sick (or overworked) mind. It requires creativity. And I have a limited supply of that, so I don't dare spend my precious energy and creativity on organizing. = ) Just let it be for another day. Maybe tomorrow.........

Good luck to the organizers among you! Sunny

I forgot to mention that I have chocolate, Pat...lots of chocolate if you are interested in "helping" me organise . I might even be talked into making something from the "Death by Chocolate" cookbook...

Ah yes, organized work room......have yet to graduate to that Level. To have the storage of photo 4 would be soooo nice. I'm a bit like Sunny, with stuff over backs of chairs, dumped on the keyboard, on the floor. I remember some years ago one of the quilting mags did a article on the work rooms of professional quilters and I thought, they must of tidied up for the cameras!

I figured as much, but with all the joking about space, HUGE stashes (and aims to increase), and such, I just couldn't resist! ;-)

I keep trying to convince hubby of that ... but so far, he refuses to sleep in the closet.

You forgot the half-naked buff, young men, waiting to rub your neck whilst you sit at your machine!! Must get those tired, kinked muscles!! ;-)

Hmm ... humidity? Where are you - if you don't mind my askin' - I'm in Florida and humidity? Yep, if you need some more, I have some I can send you! :)

Now, of course, if you live in TX, OK, NM, AZ (you get the idear), you more than likely have more than enough!

I'm verrry organized at work. At home, it's a totally different story. I have been sorting/shredding/ tossing. And going thru my crafty room. Oh, my heavens how embarassing. I can start my own stationery/office supply store, fabric store, craft shop. I just filled my closet in here with boxes that were scattered about. Of course now what I want is probably on the bottom of a pile. But like Pat, I am going to go through a couple boxes at a time, and move a lot of things out of here. So far, I have been donating to the local Adult Ed group of senior ladies, on low- income status, so they have fabric to sew with [5 10-ream paper boxes at last count, more to follow] A friend is a free-form crocheter and bead-worker so she got 75% of my beads. And it doesn't even look like I touched anything in here.

Sigh.

Take 2 chocolate truffles and put your feet up for a half hour :-) However, that is a very pretty little closet! What did she use for the hanging fabric/WIPs at the bottom? Maybe some kitchen towel holders? Would those be big enough?

About to do a little reorganizing of my own -my new machine cabinet is due to arrive in a week or 2! Roberta in D

Naked men???? I guess I missed a post or three??? LOL

Have you ever noticed when these pros do a make-over of a regular closet for hanging clothing they always seem to show only about a dozen hangers in the finished 'organized' closet? Now, tell me, who in this world has only 4 shirts and 4 pairs of slacks and 4 skirts? I am waiting to see a jam packed closet make-over and ALL the clothing remains in the closet after the make-over! Well, us quilters tend to buy more fabric than clothing, but still....

I think that was me ... I made a comment about needing more room in closet number 4 for the half-nekkid buff young men ... after all, after sewing for a while, your shoulders need rubbing, right? :-)

I buy LOTS of "clothing!!" I bought 7 2-3 yards cuts just the other day .... those would be 3 tops, 3 pairs of shorts, and one pair of slacks! :)

Doesn't that count? ;-)

I'm in Ottawa, Canada where it is humid again for a couple of days - I have health issues where heat and humidity do nothing but harm. The hazy smog that I can see from one window is sitting about top of tree height and I cannot see the river at all right now - there is a wind blowing but it is not the cooling kind. I have had 2 'benedryl' nights (well, not really benedryl anymore since I turned out to be allergic to it as well) and I still didn't sleep well - I am longing for the crispness of the fall and I don't even mind the dampness of the snow storms to come......thank you for the offer to send up more humidity, but I will decline the kind offer. jennellh
