Good thing he went ...I had something like that once from my cuticle. I used one of those cuticle cutters and it got all infected. I knew I needed help and got to the ER and they had to do surgery on my thumb. I am very cautious about any infections on the nail bed from now on. I lost my fingernail on that and it grew back. I was one step form losing my thumb. I was taking the antibiotics the doctor gave me but it was not strong enough...so always trust your gut instinct. Pami
