Is this author proporting that this map was made in 1875? Arizona did not become a state until 1912. Something fishy here.

The names aren't the modern ones - see "Indian Territory" and "Mexico" - and he was optimistically including Cuba, a bit of Canada and Baja California, so I'd guess the date is right.
