One of the mysteries to be solved: not in the sewing room and thealways elusive notion that seems to disappear moments before it isneeded - this happened day before yesterday - one minute, it was in myhand and then I elected to screw in some extra hooks in my shelvingsupports - when I turned around, where did it go? I did find iteventually and then I put it back into storage until the next time.Yesterday, I began the annual Christmas baking days: I made severaljars of lemon curd; then I mixed up the date&walnut loaves = 3 regularloaves and 12 mini loaves (for gifting)....I admit that I nibbled theend off one of the mini loaves which left me with 11 for wrapping infoil for the freezer. I cut off 11 pieces of foil and began thewrapping, placed the minis to one side - left the kitchen for ananosecond - returned to pack 11 mini loaves in a storage bag to findonly *6* wrapped loaves and 1 nibbled one ......SO - WHO came into mykitchen last night and carried away 5 foil-wrapped date&walnutloaves?? They are still missing this morning ..... the cats hadnothing to do with it - no molasses in the recipe ,otherwise I wouldcheck them for crumbs. jennellh

So where did you find the notion? I searched for my small scissors yesterday forabout two hours. Once I left my studio and rejoined the family, I found them in the pocket of my sweatpants!Did you check the cupboard where you keep the foil? I've done that before - putaway the foil AND what I was wrapping!

Sounds like a cat to behold! Friends of the family used to have onecat who was a regular visitor to their garden.....he had a dailyroutine and everyone in the neighbourhood knew the time of day toexpect his visits - rain or shine, he was there. jennellh

We have 3 that do that in our neighborhood. quite cute really. had some all day rain and they looked rather soaked when they came to the door. they don't 'meow' they just come..check to see if anyone is there to wave at them and off they go. So far, none have stayed beyond their walk. they look well cared for.Butterfly (We do put 'lettuce' out for the Quail every so often. It's gone by morn. Jennifer, do you still have the nibbled on cake? If so I'll come over sample it & hunt down the missing ones. It might take me more than one sample to get on the right track to the missing goodies But with some tea & the cake I'll give it me best shot!!

Alas - I succumbed to the temptation of the nibbled one yesterday morning ... but since there is still no sign of the missing five, the cake-hunter job is still open. I gave one of the large loaves to my sister yesterday and the other two are in the freezer so there's no problem in giving you a sample. jennellh
