working hard at quilting

At least for me, I'm finally working hard. Got two quilts sandwiched this week - the Celebration Quilt Top and the Carol Doak September BOM. Then finished piecing the Bento Box. All in my Webshots "Quilts in Progress" album.

Also been researching Art Nouveau - Art Deco tulips and vines for The Ladies.

Now I'd just like to relax with a milk shake and some quilt magazines. Speaking of which, does anyone in the US subscribe to Australian Patchwork & Quilting? Does it cost a fortune to have it mailed? There must be a place I can buy it locally. The lady who used to carry it had to vacate her building so a bus station could be built.

We can get it fairly easily here in the UK, Kay; so presumably it wouldn't be too difficult for you to get it. . In message , Kay Ahr writes

hey kay, did you check the oz publishers to get the sub to that magazine? i'd venture a guess they post from usa so shouldnt be too expensive. i know it is cheaper in usa than here in nz and we're just across the ditch from oz, go figure. it is a good magazine, always has a fold out page with patterns front and back from the magazine inside.

as for those art nouveau designs for m'ladys, try

formatting link
they got a mess of free patterns good for either redwork or applique that might work for m'ladys. click on 'library' then 'designs' and spend some time going thru for a look see for all of them. fwiw, jeanne

I sent them an email but haven't gotten any response. It was probably the middle of the night there. Or Saturday morning already.

The Needlecrafter site is great. Slow for me right at this moment, but sure worth waiting for! There is a beautiful butterfly!

On the Needlecrafter site was a link to Amazon to subscribe to a magazine. So I figured I'd look there for Australian Patchwork & Quilting. Each magazine is over $12!! I'm thinking maybe I could order several issues at a time from Erica's and save on postage. I'll keep researching. Maybe Border's or Barnes & Noble has them. I haven't been there in a while.

Thanks, Jeanne, for all the goodies!!

hey Kay, tis the weekend here now, we're ahead of you. Oz folks are all off enjoying the sunshine. the subscription rate sounds better in US$--- A$11.71 = US$ 9.85 :) per issue that is. still expensive by usa standards but then everything cost more outside the usa. is there no shop in your area that carrys it? makes it cheaper as then you'd not have the postage added in. shops get their mags by media rate or they are printed in usa and avoid the int'l postage. i cant recall which way they do it or i'm completely off track again. still cheaper in usa than in nz just across the ditch from oz, i just never did understand that one.

still searching for a better deal on it for ya. will post back if i find one. cheers, jeanne

Yeah, I figured y'all were already in the weekend. I just ordered 6 back issues from Erica's. The postage calculates out to be a little over a dollar each. As far as I know, our only resource for Australia Patchwork & Quilting was the lady who is no longer in a brick-and-mortar business. She's the one I got my first issues from about 4 years ago. Now she does just shows and Internet sales -- quilting kits only.

They are the first 6 issues from this year. I figure when the last issue comes out, I'll get the last 6 issues from this year. Assuming they don't sell out very fast. Too bad they won't get here before I leave for my trip to Ohio -- I could look at them while I'm sitting in airports.
