I signed up to do an altered puzzle swap... it was a real challenge working on such tiny pieces (less than 2 inches across) and it was a different challenge to do the giant piece that she put in because she ran out of regular puzzles! But it was fun...
Karen, You are so creative. I love these. I'm ready for some swaps after the holidays. I think you should host a puzzle piece swap, and Lynne should host a license plate swap, and Deb a chocolate recipe swap, and M-C should do a challenge about our goals (that always gets me going at the beginning of the new year), and .................. I'm sure there were others, I just can't think now, we've made christmas trees out of cardboard cones, I've given two breathing treatments, build a boat out of legos, fed two babies, and fixed lunch. I get a break while they eat lunch with my assistant.........my brain is as tired as the rest of me. I hope I'm not getting ready to come down with something.
Go ahead! I'd never done an altered puzzle before, so I took the swap on as a challenge... then we got the list of themes that people wanted and I realised that it was a REAL challenge - I wanted to do it without spending one cent on stuff for it - I figured it would be insane to spend even a dollar buying a sheet of paper for a theme that I have no interest in and would never use again (like Nascar!) In the end I did go to the LSS to look for a nascar embellishment to finish it off (I wanted a tiny car sticker or something) but they didn't have anything appropriate...
We'll be swap-aholics after the holidays with all these great swap ideas we have running around. LOL Sandy, just reading what you did all before lunch makes me worn out! You're one busy lady!
Those are beautiful and i have no idea how you did it on such small space..i have puzzle pieces but have no idea whereto begin to decorate like that...now what will u use them on? great work..thanks for sharing.. cathy
These are for a swap, so I don't get to keep them... I'm mailing them in on Saturday, and some time after Christmas I'll get a complete cat-themed puzzle back in return.
As for how to decorate them I didn't really have a clue either because these were the first I've ever done... I started by painting the pieces with some metallic acrylic paint (most of it ended up covered up though...) and then I took the first piece and picked a background paper for it and glued it on then trimmed around the edges. Then I looked for little teensy embellishments that I could use and added a ribbon/fiber. They were (mostly) great fun!
