Another UPDATE OT: Free Scrapbook Kit

I just got a call from the director of the campaign "remarkable women" who wants to settle out of court.

She said, on the answering machine, that I will be issued a cashier's check for the full amount as a refund as well as two kits as an apology.

I let the Camden County's Prosecutor's office know and they said that it is part of the settlement that was agreed upon.

.The DA said that the director of the campaign didn't realize how popular scrapbooking had become and was overwhelmed with the amount of requests. Although still illegal to not fulfill a promise of goods due to false advertising or in their case poor planning. It seems I should get the package in the mail shortly.

I told my father & mother-in-law to let me know when the package comes by calling me at work as I need to tell the DA that they finally stood up to their end of the bargain.

whoo hoo.

Poor planning is forgivable but when they just kept your money without offering you a refund or offering you a different but comparable package it moved into the criminal realm.

Really. What in the world has happened to customer service. What we have to pay extra now to be treated fairly and legally?

Robert,

Just a little background on the item.

I ordered in in March of 2005. The check cleared in July of 2005 after I had totally forgotten about it.

Since a year was almost up is when I contacted the New Jersey's Department of Consumer Affairs and now this is where it stands nearly a year and half later.

You're never gonna guess what came in the mail today.

THREE SCRAPBOOKING KITS from this lousy company.

I''ll admit what is in these kits are all the same but they are expensive -- rub-ons, metal letters and frames, stickers, paper.

What is funny is that there was a money order in it, attached to a letter that was sent to the Camden County Weights and Measures (consumer protection office), which of course was an UNSIGNED MONEY ORDER.

It's just the principle of the thing that gets me annoyed. I'm with Robert, what has happened to customer service and loyalty. I guess in this day and age, companies are getting too big for their britches.

I bank at Commerce Bank and hopefully they will take the money order and a copy of the letters and allow me to depost the money order.

Here's to hoping. Kate

Well even if you can't cash the money order it sounds like you got your money's worth in products.

Money's worth in products yah, but not in time and stress wasted. She should get the money too.

I would never treat a customer this way. If I couldn't fill they order I would either offer something else of higher value for their trouble or return their money begging for forgiveness and then include a gift certificate for something free in the future. Greed is no excuse for treating your customers poorly. Without your customers your are out of business plain and simple.

Yes she should get her money back but if she doesn't at least she got her money's worth.

IIRC the promotion was tied in with the purchase of feminine products. They can get away with it because many women will continue buying their products anyway because this is not an area where one might want to take a chance on a mishap occuring by switching to another brand. ;o)

The problem with that is I don't use Stayfree products or Viactiv or the other products listed. I bought them at the dollar store and then thankfully my sister took them.

Oh well.

I don't have use for those types of products but I was tempted to buy a couple of boxes last year just to get the kit. I'm glad I didn't now.
