Any secrets for Lefties?

Hi folks,

As much as I love being a southpaw, it does have it's drawbacks. One of my pet peeves is punch bowl ladles. The spout is on the wrong side (unless it's one of those groovy ones with spouts on both sides-the person who started that should be elevated to sainthood IMO lol)

Anywho. Like many folks I've heard about, I too hate my handwriting, but will aknowledge the fact that it does make journalling more personal. It is just me, or do others of you who are blessed by being lefties have issues with smearing what you just wrote? Any hints for how to avoid this? (or at least minimize it) Advice will be much appreciated, even from righties ;o)

my DH is a lefty but when he writes, it slants to the right - not quite what you'd expect from a lefty! Don't know what to tell you but maybe someone else can be suggestive.

I'm a lefty, and I've never had a problem with this since high school. Back then I learned to write in such a way that the side of my hand is below where's I'm writing so I don't smear. Plus I have the paper slanted to the right some. I know other lefties who curve their hand above where they're writing but it's very awkward.

Lori......Although I'm not left handed. I too hate my handwriting and as a result I prefer to computer journal. If you really have a problem with smudging the writing, mayby rely on technology to help. S

Hey we are on a roll! I am one of the "other Lori's" and I too am left-handed! I have the problem you have but for some reason (I think the ink dries super-fast) the Creative memories FINE-tip pens do not smear ! I use them all the time and have not had them smear once during any of my journaling. My suggestion is find a smear free pen and don't journal on shiny or too smooth surfaces! Welcome to the group :)

I'm no leftie either but I do have a pen suggestion. Try the Zig Millenium pens. They don't smear and they're archivally safe. When the gel pen ink is fading several, several years from now the millenium ink will still look new. At least that's what say. ;-} Good luck.

speaking of computer journaling...

somewhere out there in cyberland there are sites that will turn your own handwriting into a computer font. Not sure of the cost, but it may be something you could look into.

I'm in that catagory too. I'm a lefty, but when I write, my hand is directly under where the pen is, so as long as I write from top to bottom, no problem. I'd second the ideas for getting a fast drying pen to see if that helps and if not, getting your handwriting turned into a font or using computer journaling might be a good option...
