ATC's Finished!

This week I had to have a cancerous growth removed from my nose, and since there is no way on earth I'm gonna set foot out of this house until the stitches come out, I have had plenty of time to work on my ATC's. They are done, and will be in the mail Saturday (if I can talk DH into taking them to the post office) or Monday, when I will be presentable enough to take them. I'm not gonna post them yet, because I want to surprise everyone. On a side note, if you have a spot on your skin that won't go away, have it checked out! I thought the spot on my nose was just a pimple, or something like that, until I saw a magazine article that described me perfectly as a basal cell cancer. My doctor told me that though this type of cancer grows very slowly, it just keeps getting worse and won't go away. If I'd kept ignoring it, they might have had to take my whole nose off! Katrina, I will email you as soon as I surrender the cards to the mailman, so you'll know when to expect them. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone's cards look like!

Oh wow, I am so glad that you had it checked out! The same thing happened to a friend of mine, but I guess she waited a little longer than you did because she needed a little skin graft after the fact. I completely understand about staying home until the stitches are taken out. On the plus side is all that time you get to scrap!

Hope everything goes smoothly from now on!

My doctor told me before she started the surgery that she might need to take a skin graft from my ear. Fortunately, she was able to use a bit of skin from the bridge of my nose, instead. But I think what scares me the most is how large the cancer turned out to be, considering how small the spot on my nose was. In a couple of weeks, I will be going back for a thorough, all-over checkup, just to make sure. Now that the ATC's are done, I need to decide whether to spend the weekend doing layouts, or Christmas cards. Or maybe a bunch of each!

I'm one of those people that go to the doctor all the time. I'm glad you had it checked out and had it taken care of right away. Hopefully all is gone and you can get back to normal. I would camp out at home all weekend too. I'd love to get some scrapping done. We've been doing 4-H this week. It is so tiring. I haven't scrapped since March. I don't think I can walk in my scrapbook room right now with all the clutter.

As a fair, red headed, blue eyed human I know how scary skin cancer can be as I worshipped the sun as a youngster -- doing everything but what was recommended. I had a couple of growths removed. it is painful but a reminder for SPF50 everytime every day. I now buy makeup that has SPF built right in.

take care,

Wow! I'm glad you got it looked at. I wouldn't leave the house, either! It's much better to get things like that looked at before they progress to worse. My Dad has had to have some skin cancers "sluffed" off before, so I'm careful to watch for things like that. Hopefully you don't have to worry about it any more!

Good for you Mel! I can't say I blame ya for not wanting to go anywhere! I hope your nose heals well!! I wish I could have stayed home when I had all of my upper teeth pulled out for a denture. I only had three days off afterwards, and I had to go back to work with bruises, swelling, black eyes and ALL!( I work with the public in a grocery store bakery!) Wearing extral coverup concealer makeup helped, and at least no one thought I got beat up....LOL

I am anxious too, to get my ATC's done. I have 6 done so far! Its a little harder than I thought it would be to use one color theme, but I will get it..just need to brainstorm some more..
