Black and white photos

I printed out 2 photos today that were color in black and white. I'm working on 2 LOs of my kids when they were babies. I scanned them in black and white and I have to tell you they came out looking more precious than before. I'll share the LO's when I get them done. But I wanted you guys to think about occasionally using photos in black and white.

I like using black and white photos too, either by themselves or with one color photo. I think they look really great. You also get a wider color choice as far as paper is concerned. Can't wait to see what you do with them.

I *so* want to try black and white photos. Today I did a layout focusing on DS who did a bicycle stunt. The title was DS's name along the margin and a smaller *dare devil*. It was a two page layout using six photos. One of the photos would have been perfect in black and white as an accent.

I use b&w about 50% of the time because I find that whatever paper I want to use usually clashes with what my kids have on. ;o) I use Irfanview to convert any color picture to grayscale.

All my life my mom has either worked for or owned a black and white photo lab - so I have always had a fondess for black and white (not to mention, it's always been free!). THey are beautiful, and can change the character of an image.

Thanks for the tip.

I haven't really used them much, but you have made me think about it. I love the way they look on pages. I think it really allows you to focus on the picture and emotions better. Thanks for reminding me about B&W pics.

I have always wanted to scrapbook black and white photos. Everytime I see a layout with black and white photos it just grabs my attention. I have an issue though... I just can't seem to print out black and white photos. I start seeing a color combination in the photo and just print it as is. I know ... crazy. I will try it soon though.

Are you running out of black ink in your printer? Mine will use color if the black has run out. The LO's I'm doing are turning out SO cute. The black and white photos are really striking with the colored paper I'm using around them. They is a special piece of paper I ordered online I'm waiting for and then they'll be complete and I'll post them.

Maybe one of our monthly challenges should be using black & white photos.

That sounds like a great idea...I'd love to take that one on. I think Tammy's problem is she see's the colors of the pics then picks out paper and stuff to match, never considering the b&w concept...I do the same thing..lol

I read somewhere that sometimes action photos look better in color and some types of scenery.

I am pretty sure it was Neets' albums I saw where she had a lot of b&w pix and they looked great. I think MC has some too.

Linda, check your digi cam for settings. I have a really basic Canon digi cam and I have options to change the phodies to b&w and sepia. If you upload that to your disc, I'm sure it will work. Our Kodak kiosk here also have the option to change to b&w or even change hue of the pics.
