Calling all Enablers....I need advice ;)

Hi Everyone!

I'm still doing all my cutting with a fixed blade craft knife - ie matting, trimming pages etc. I'm looking at acquiring a paper trimmer. I've seen in the best scrapping purchase thread a lot of talk about the Fiskars trimmer. Would this be a good "starter-trimmer" for me or what else would you guys suggest? I must mention that I'm "technically -challenged" lol! So any complicated operating tool won't do :)

Also, is a trimmer suitable for cutting any sizes of paper, or does it have to be A4 and bigger?

Sorry for all this silly questions, but I've never used a trimmer befor, closest I came was a very old-fashioned guillotine at my previous job and that thing was dangerous! LOL...had to watch your fingers when using it! ;)

Well Judy, I'll chime in on saying go with the Fiskars. However, be careful which one you go with! My first Fiskars cutter was a horrible, flimsy little one that I now only use in emergencies (yeah right! Like I have any emergency paper cutting needs!). Then I got the "BIG" Fiskars cutter. LOVE that one but it's a little bulky for everyday needs. Finally, when there was a huge sale, I got myself the Fiskars Ultimate Trimmer. I have to say, having tried the Cutterpede and Carl's trimmer, this one is THE BEST. It has swapable blades (perforation and scoring), it has a strong metal cutting platform. It has rulers that come out on BOTH sides for measuring, it has a 4 sided cutting strip that can be turned and used on all four sides (less need to purchase new ones), it LOCKS in place for trimming (this can be a hassle until you get the hang of it, but then it's WONDERFUL), it comes with a "finger guard" so you can slip photos under it and still hold them in place without getting them all smudged up... The blade pops out for travel so you don't have to worry about cutting yourself or breaking anything... It has swapable cutting guides for it's cutting platform for cutting angles and all sorts of things. I just can't say enough good things about this one :) So, do what others have suggested and check them all out if you can, but I HIGHLY recommend the Fiskars Ultimate... Best cutting investment I've ever made :) (ok, so I sound like a commercial... can you tell I love this thing!)
