As a small scrapbook business owner I must say that I was burned in this one too. I can tell you that having learned my lesson, I got assurances from my supplier that the cricut would not be sold to Michaels etc. If you know me, you know that I never make anyone pay the MSRP but who can afford to pay for something and then sell it for less than what they bought it for?

Yet, I wasn't all that surprised to be burned by the big suppliers yet again. But there is always a way to turn bad into good and one of the ways to do that is by having the raffle which I am still working on. The extra Cricut I bought will make someone happy and help a family get an adapted van to transport their little girl with OI. Will I carry Provo Craft again? Perhaps, but I do think that their lying to their distributors while actively working with Michales and Wal-Mart was a really low bottom feeding thing to do.

Interesting, but sad.

It's the american dream to make a buck off the small struggling business owners and then give the credit to big stores like michaels etc.

What's the problem other than the late delivery? I haven't seen the cricut for less than $160 so there is still a small profit margin as the cost was $135. If I owned a lss I would sell them for $140 just to get people into the shop...... My lss has the right idea, they don't sell sizzix or any die cutters that you can get in AC Moore or Michaels although they have them available for use. They concentrate on offering things that you can't get in the large discount stores.

The only thing that ticked me off was the exclusive cartridge that you could only get if you bought yours through QVC.

I've seen them on eBay and Overstock Auctions so they aren't exactly cracking down on the auctions either.

Shame.

I love my Cricut!! But I don't like what they did. I also didn't appreciate them offering an exclusive cartridge for those whom purchased it on QVC!!! What can ya do!?! God Bless, Dorothy in NY

The small business owner also has to pay for it to be shipped to them, and has to account for the time element in ordering, storing, and then the cost of shipping it back out. Remember it's a pretty heavy item and shipping costs out also feature in the price that people will consider.

Also most small stores don't buy direct from each manufacturer, but through a distributor who also has to take their cut. It's one of the reasons that so many LSSs and smaller online retailers have such a hard time making it.

Hi, I'm new on here. I emailed this to everybody by accident... Forgive me - Just a few days of reading, but I have to talk about the Cricut...

I have had one for about 4 months now. I absolutely love it... I do so much stuff with it... I have 9 cartridges now, hoping for new ones every day!!

My most used cartridges are George and Basic Shapes and Doodlecharms.

I also have a Quikutz - About 2 years old - Loved that little gadget too, but haven't looked at it since I got the Cricut... I actually want to sell my Quikutz. Anybody looking?
