Dawn & Baby

Dawn,

I'm glad to hear you and your little one are well.

Is 6 hours of sleep good or bad? You can consider me a bear as far as sleeping. I could go for days in bed and never notice =)

I hope you are enjoying your time w/Matthew.

I saw your pages. I hadn't been there since you post the pixs so I had not seen the bath & hopsital pages. They are really cute. My favorite is the bath one, but I might be biased 'cause yellow is my favorite color =)

Take LOTS of pixs. Make sure you label them and worry about scrapping later (I can't believe I said that) But babies are that little just for a short time. Next thing you know he'll be walking and talking, etc.

My point is, I think the cutest time is when kids are under 2. Then they start the terrible two's, being toddlers, tantrums...etc. They also start having an opinion and they talk and everything else..

Can you tell I'm a *little* apprehensive about having kids? ;)

I mean, I really LOVE kids. I could spend hours after hours making a baby giggle (I've been told by moms I'm really good at that. Must be the goofiness).

My mom says I'm just afraid my kid might be exactly like me and that's what I'm afraid of. LOL I think she might be right. =)

Take care. xoxoxo for baby

I would think 6 hours is a good sleep for a new baby. Depending on the time of day of course, & that Mom makes sure she sleeps the same time:>)

This is true Angie, what goes around, comes around(LOL)

6 hours is technically "sleeping through the night". Of course, when it starts at 9pm, and ends at 3 am, it doesn't seem like through the night to me!! He's awake a lot more during the day, so my naps are getting fewer - of course, eventually, he'll sleep more at night and have an actual nap schedule during the day...we hope! And last night, it was sleep til 3, listen to him roll around and stretch and grunt and groan until 6, then feed and repeat performance til 7, and now we're up! :)

I agree about taking pics and scrapping later. Unfortunately, when I look at all the pics, I feel a slight sense of panic watching them pile up! It's the good and bad of having a good digital camera. I only put a few on his webpage (which I'm revamping, btw). I have a great journal for new mothers called Cradle the Thought which walks you through questions about how your baby is doing, how you feel about it, etc, for the first year, broken down week by week. It's a great book - especially since I'm a scrapbooker and not doing the traditional fill-in baby book. This way, I can put off making some pages (as long as I label my pictures!!) Makes a great shower gift or baby gift, in case anyone needs ideas! There's a website if you want to check it out. :)

I think most people fear that their child will turn out just like themselves, just as we all fear turning into our parents! I certainly don't wish away a moment of him being little, but I have to say it will be nice when he can tell me what he wants/needs instead of guessing by cry!

I'm sure you'll be a great mom, Angie! As people always say, it's different when they're your own. And those giggles when there little will certainly make dealing with tantrums later a little easier. And watch out for that bottom lip quiver - talk about melting your heart!!

Now, if someone could tell me how to get him to keep the pacifier, which he obviously loves, in his mouth, I'd be getting somewhere this morning!! LOL.

Dawn - my babies were both pacifier babies and we were given about 5 different kinds of pacifiers as shower gifts (plus I bought a few more LOL) and if you try different kinds they will choose the one they "hold" on to. Maybe that will help :)

That's what I ment: The timing is everything:>)

He's awake a lot more during the day, so my naps are getting fewer -

Wow, I remember those days:>) No thank you:>)

That sounds like a great book Dawn.

LOL believe it or not, every stage you leave behind, was the easier stage:>)

If you find that out, you could be a rich woman!:>)

crazy glue? just kidding- my guy like his hands over the pacifier now- so if he can get his hands/fingers into his mouth that may help :)

I always put a blanket in front of Alexis' pacifier to hold it in place! But then she learned how to move the blanket, then it meant, I kept giving it to her...Good Luck
