Embossing Powders

What kind of Embossing Powders do you use? Do you have a favorite for different effects? I want to buy a couple different powders but do not have a clue about what to get.

Thanks.

I love Opals powders but I don't know if they are available in the US. They are thick and rich and come in the most amazing colours.

Here is a link if you are interested in learning more

I like clear because you can see the ink color through it. Gold and silver are good when making Christmas cards. ~Peggy

I love embossing powders!

The ones I use the most are, clear, ver/rd/gr, tourquoise, gold, silver & copper all by tsukinek(sp?)

I also like the rich colors of the Andirondack(sp) brand

I probably use clear the most, but I've also used white, red, green, silver, and a iridescent powder. I love embossing and haven't found one I don't like. LOL

I'd have to agree with Peggy I use clear embossing powder 95% of the time. Either to see the ink underneath or for a clear shining look I'm trying to achieve. As for the brand I don't really have a particular brand that I swear buy. I have some from Stampin Up and I have some from Michaels and I have no idea what brand it is. All work as well.

I'm with Peggy on this. I use clear the most by far! I think it is more fun to have many different color inks instead. I also like to versamark a lot because I like that just a little darker than the cardstock look and the shiny effect of clear embossed versamark.

I too love the look of heat embossing. I like to use Versamark with colored embossing powders. Stampin Up products are excellent but I have had good results with powder that I bought at Craft Wharehouse.

Tammy, I like the clear and the gold. Looks really neat on Christmas cards.

I have a lot of different colors but I usually use black or gold detail powder. I use it more for cards than in my scrapbooks. I use clear UTEE for glassy looks over the whole design. Peggy in NJ

There are other things you can do with UTEE. I know its hard to see in the scan but I made a puddle of Opals (my version of UTEE) and embedded a bucket and spade charm in it as an embelishment for this scrapbook page.

oooooh that looks really nice. I've not played too much with UTEE. Does it come in colors or do you have to tint it yourself?

I love the LO. I've wanted to try UTEE. Is it hard to work with? Sandy in Southern Indiana

The UTEE I used comes in a range of amazing colours. For the embellishment in this LO I roughly mixed together to different Opals to give an uneven colour. From memory I used Banksia (a rich earthy gold) and Sandstone (a coooler gold).

I think Opals comes in about 15 different colours (16 if you include clear). I have seen a new range (tropical) which are bright and colourful but Pipedream Ink who make this product haven't updated their website yet.

I really like the way you used the UTEE on that layout, Susan. Peggy in NJ
