hey dawn!! camera questions

I need a digital SLR for newspaper pics (i'm a freelancer).. I"m getting frustrated by my digital right now... does the flash work very well? have you tried a hotflash yet? I'm really looking at getting a high end camera (with a HUGE flash) for night time events.. its hard to get stuff to press in time if its film anymore... you said this camera takes all canon lenses? that sounds too good to be true.. LOL..but I can hope....:oD

Hey ronni! You would definitely need an additional flash with this particular camera, as it seems to be mostly for fill-in and nearby shots. The guy at the camera store told me it takes all Canon lenses (even gave me a catalog with all the accessories - lots of choices - you can even get one of those 35 pound 1200 lenses!!! lol). My dh said he wished we would have bought a Canon SLR a few years back instead of Minolta so we could have interchanged lenses (unfortunately, I didn't have my crystal ball that day!). This camera really works like a film camera as far as settings can be fully manual, as can focus, there's no digital zoom, but it stores on CF card instead of film.

We have a really small local paper here and I was thinking after I got this camera "I could get them better shots than that!" (of course, I think I could do a whole better paper, but that's another story...).

lolol... thank you ssoooooo much for the info.. looks like I gotta start saving up huh? I really want the inter changeable lenses and hey, I could think of uses for that 1200 lense!! (whale watching from a distance, nyc marathon shots.. etc.. LOL) sooo cool... that would be the best of both worlds.... now to go drool and get sticker shock.. LOL.. thanky!

I went to Adray Camera in Ann Arbor. I really wanted to talk to people that knew what they were talking about and who weren't just reading off the mfg. spec sheets. I probably paid a little more (and probably would shop around for accessories), but they seemed trustworthy. =)

Dh already wants a zoom lens! And I've GOT to find a bag for this thing!

Just wanted to congratulate you on your camera!! Yesterday, I saw a friend who does professional photos for car races and he told me he's thinking about getting the same camera. He said it's a really good one! Good for you Dawn!
