HotMarks is like a woodburning set for paper. It has a blade also that is great for cutting foam board. That I have used. Also there is a flat tip that is used to transfer photocopies to wood, paper or cloth. It's for the tips and the brands that screw into the unit that I am looking for ideas It says you can age paper and make the edges look burned and burn the designs on the brands into paper (heart, star, square, triangle, circle, oval, swirl and flower). If anyone has any ideas, I'm open for suggestions. Peggy from NJ

did you buy it in a store or from a shopping channel.? they are sold in the u.k. via a shopping channel and they do great demos on the use of it. they do work on wood (a bit like pyrography) and also on greeting cards etc. if i see the programme again i will try and get back to you with a bit more info.

Thanks, that would be great. I bought mine at AC Moore. I haven't found much on the net and I expected to see ideas in some of the magazines but haven't. Peggy

This sounds very interesting. I think it would look good on heritage pages or maybe even journaling for holiday pages. I'm thinking of an Island vacation with a "pirates treasure chest" and an old scroll of paper with the journaling. That could also work for an European or even Egyptian LO! Wow! the possibilities are endless! Oh I just love scrapping! :)))

Hi Margaret,

Great, just what I need another thing to add to my birthday (may) wish list. I'm just gonna have to tell my mom what I want. She is such a great enabler. My hubby is now saying "where are we going to store it?"

He is sorta getting firm on the whole "don't buy anymore" thing. Arrg.

It does look cool. I look forward to seeing your works of art.

Kate, have you ever thought of those storage bins that go under beds. It's my experience that few men look under a bed, LOL!

That is just too funny! I have a wood burning tool somewhere. I heard about using them for scrapping a while back and asked my son if he knew where it was. But, he didn't. I have looked at them several times when I was out shopping but resisted getting one. If I don't dig mine up soon I might not be able to resist much longer.

You're a hoot MC. I'll have to remember that one. This weekend I'm working on a scraproom. Pretty bad I've only been scraping a year and already need a room. I have too much stuff to keep getting out and putting up whenever it's time to eat. But now that I am getting all my stuff out and spreading it out I'm worried he's going to actually try and figure out in his head how much I've actually spent. I could be in BIG TROUBLE.

I just saw today on a site where they were using a woodburner to engrave words onto popcicle sticks for lables and tags on LO's. I know I've got one somewhere too. I woodburnt my daughter's name and birthdate into the end of the cradle we made her in 1982. Oh where....oh where can it be....... Sandy

Shannon who would guess that one of those metal embelishment packages costs a whopping $4.50??? Until what my DH calls my "raid on QVC" he actually said that he believed that scrapbooking was an "inexpensive habit" LOL. He would freak if he knew just how much it costs me!

as promised here are a few ideas. the programme is on the tv as i type! the hot mark tools come with several tips and you can purchase the alphabet tips and also number tips.it heats to about 300 deg.f and although does not get as hot as a pyrography tool it can still be used on wood.at the moment a wooden scrap/memory book cover is being decorated by burning on a pattern that had first been transferred onto the wood. looks good. Cards and paper including mulberry and other hand made papers can also be "burnt" you can do freehand and also use the metal embossing stencils to get your shapes/patterns. put initials onto leather belts or bags as gifts. if you do scrapbooking you can embelish allsorts of bits to decorate your pages i.e. slivers of wood and bits of leather to name but two.if you are not sure if the medium you are working with is suitable then just try it on a scrap first. I quite like the idea of decorating wooden memory book covers as they seem to cheaper over here than the hard card types.--could be a nice litle earner if you take it up especially personalized ones mmm!. anyway hope this helps. good luck and do enjoy trying all the different things you can do.
