how to attach fibers??

Leaving my lurker mode for a question, which probably has been answered already...

How do you attach fibers to the paper? I saw a smalle package of "scrapbook fibers" in a store today and was wondering if I could use them in a regular photo album but wasn't sure since I didn't know how to attach them.

Hi Susanne,

Yes, it's probably been answered, but don't ever let that stop you from checking in. You'll always get a friendly answer to any question. And who knows maybe someone came up with another great way to do something since the last discussion.

I attach fibers with glue dots. I've tried liquid glues and photo splits, but the fiber comes loose for me. A good glue dot holds things pretty well.

Hi Susanne! Fibers are really fun in scrapbooks. You can punch holes and weave them in borders. Use them as ties or ribbons ,They are great in tags,They can be glued down and used where you want "ropes" or such. Everything your imagnation can dream up!

Hi Susanne!

By "regular photo album" are you asking about the kind with sticky pages that have a lift of clear cover? If so, I'm thinking that fibers would be most used incorporated into an embellishment such as a tag or sewn into a mat or border. You can use punchies to make holes/openings, then tie or weave the fibers.

I use drop in page protector sheets so my LOs are built on cardstock or patterned paper. You can see some examples in my yahoo album titled "our house" at

On the Framing, Kitchen 1, and Kitchen 2 LOs, the fiber was wrapped to the back side and secured with everyday tape. Since the tape doesn't show and it doesn't touch any pictures, I felt normal tape would work OK. Somebody can educate me if I did bad. On Woodfloors, the thread was secured on the back with a double-sided hermafix tab. One side secured the thread, the other secured the embellishment to the LO. This is the same concept as the glue dot.

Word of caution...fibers can be very addicting. Oh the possibilities!! :-)

You can use eyelets to weave through and a rectangle punch to make slits to weave through too. Also I have tried running them through a Xyron.

Glue dots sound good to me but I don't know if I will find them over here. I haven't noticed them anywhere yet.

No. They don't have sticky pages. They just have blank white pages. Scrapbooking isn't as famous over here yet, so it's not so easy to find scrapbooks like you use. So I think to punch holes in the paper isn't such a good idea. But I could use some cardstock with the fibers and then glue it to the page.

Thanks for your help!

I think holes in my pages wouldn't be so good :) But Xyron sounds good. I don't have one yet, but I already saw it somewhere. Did it work out for you?

I worked pretty good with regular fibers, but got a little too sticky with the real furry looking kind.

Can you order things online?

Yes, I can. But I haven't noticed any glue dots at any of the online shops I sometimes order from.

Susanne, they are a bit expensive - but worth it. It works for almost any embelishment. My glue dots last me quite a while. I've been scrapping from October last year and only opened up my third box last week, although I dont scrap everyday! :)

For my pets, I don't use regular scrapbook albums, but a good quality ring file with filing sleeves (like page protectors but in A4 size). They work pretty good and you can cover the outside in the theme the album is about Just an idea if you can't find acid free albums :)
