Thanks Irene. I found the dog a lot harder to make than the bears!

Nice M-C, thanks for sharing with us. I have yet to post my layouts either as my scanner has been down forever.

LOVE the LO's... Mind if I ask some newbie questions about them? Hope not cause here I go!

I looked first at misc. book because the photo of your mom drew my eye, so here's some questions for you...

  1. On the page about your mom, did you colorize just part of the photo or did it come that way... and if you colorized it, how? And on the little envelope, did you age that somehow or did it come that way? I'm doing a lot of heritage photos and love the look on this one.

  1. On the JAG_WED page, did you tear the little strips (the dress and glasses) with a deckle ruler and are they embossed? The edges are so clean yet have that torn look... I love it!

(random comment... I LOVE the bears! they are SO cute!)

  1. The Washington DC page... is that the Jolee's destination set on that page? I've got it myself and am going to be doing a set of pages for our last long cartrip and love the way you've used the embellishments and the colors!

Ok. on the Tribute album...

  1. On the Mount Dora page... I love the "little" photos... did you print those yourself or how did you get them done? They'd sure come in handy for some of the "big" albums I've got to do...

Anyway, LOVE the LO's and look forward to seeing more!

Actually my son is a graphic artist, so I'll have to ask him the complete answer to that. He just did another one for me of my great-grandparents and all their children and some of their grandchildren, including my mom. He used it in a digital album page he did for me. This is what I got from my photoshop elements on the how: To colorize a grayscale image or create a duotone effect:

1.. If you are colorizing a grayscale image, choose Image > Mode > RGB to convert the image to RGB. 2.. Open the Hue/Saturation dialog box. 3.. Select Colorize. If the foreground color isn't black or white, Photoshop Elements converts the image to the hue of the current foreground color. The lightness value of each pixel does not change. 4.. Use the Hue slider to select a new color if desired. Use the Saturation and Lightness sliders to adjust the saturation and lightness of the pixels. 5.. Click OK.

It's a tag from 7 Gypsiers. I believe that there is a tea staining technique that people use to create that effect. Maybe someone esle can answer that. As for what's on the taf, I created the wording and the rose combination in word (I know it's not the usual route. I actually also use the word table to print multiple pictures that I can then resize individually in each cell and then print on a 8.5x11 sheet, in fact that is another way to make all those small pictures if you don't have access to the HP 130 discussed in question 4 below. The nice thing is that you can save the picture docs!) Then I printed my mom's name, the year of her birth and death and the little rose on vellum. You have to set the vellum aside to let it dry, then I just cut it out and adhered it.

Actually, I embosed the image, then turned it over to the embosed side, turned the stencil around and put it over the embosed image and chalked it. Then I used a scallped endged scissor, in this case I think it was the CM antique scissor to cut it out.

Thanks, they are a labour of love. I give them away to family and friends and for charity auctions.

Yes it is the Jolle's set. It is a two page layout so the rest of the pack is on the other page the scan of which is still hiding from me!

I love those small pictures too. Actually it is the easiest thing to use. I use the small HP Photosmart 130. It does a great job, doesn't care what size your picture is and gives you the option of printing thumbnails, 4x6 or two 31/4x3 pictures on the same 4x6 sheet. All you do is slip in the card from your digtal camera. It accepts four different card types so it's pretty versatile for a small printer. Mine doesn't have the display window, the higher version does. Or you can use the table in word as mentioned above.

TY! I'll let ou know when I find the hidden ones! LOL

M-C, I'm glad you went through with it and shared these layouts with us! I visited the misc pages first, and find your travel pages quite pleasing. They look like inviting travel brochures and make me want to go there too! I especially like the white deckle frames behind the pictures, gives it that charming look from my mom and grandma's oldest photos. The tribute to Shirley is quite nice. Also, you make a fine looking bear! I've only made one, and I couldn't find nice eyes, so it's a little shocking looking with the green eyes.

Take care, Janet
