Kenda and I met at Starbucks yesterday for coffee. She treated me to Starbucks, how sweet of her! Then we stopped by to see a friend of ours at work, gave her a hard time and brought her Startbucks. LOL Then we headed to Hobby Lobby and Michaels. Mental note....when you're in seperate vehicles, and there's more than one craft store in your area, make sure the two of you are going to the same one. LOL Thank goodness for cell phones. ROFL
Michaels had the Martha Stewart...ummm...stuff....out. You won't find it in my house. LOL There's a lot of kids craft kits, which aren't anymore exciting than the kids craft kits you already see. I would rather buy the kits that are already out, which are much cheaper. The scrapbooking stuff has pretty colors, but it's WAY overpriced due to pretty packaging. The whole line has a soft, froofy, not-quite-elegant feel to it, which just isn't me. Soft, almost pastel colors, etc. The ribbon is beautiful ribbon, but again...too expensive. The $79 albums someone mentioned...they're real! They're for 18" x 18" pages! I for one can't think of a project where I would use 18 x 18 pages. LOL The smaller, 12 x 12, etc albums are nice, but again...overpriced due to packaging. The punches however, those were impressive. A lot of the punches were solid shapes with a scalloped edge, which you just don't see in punches now. So that was nice, and I think the punches would be worth the cost. She has her own marker set...again, overpriced due to packaging...and only a bullet tip. The 18" x 18" paper and cardstock is $1.99 a sheet. The paper is pretty. I like the paper for the designs and colors. I could see some really neat things with the paper, but not at $1.99 a sheet because it's really flimsy paper. The cardstock, however....it's $1.99 a sheet and very thick, durable cardstock. That to me is worth it. I agree with Kenda, you could make lots of boxes out of that cardstock. LOL I've already told DH not to bring the Martha Stewart stuff home to me. LOL I just wasn't impressed with it. It's overpriced due to the pretty packaging. It's not exciting. I'm not impressed. I wonder how well it's going to do and if it doesn't do well, how long Michaels will carry it. Oh, by the way, Michaels had scrapbooking stuff for 70% off. I found some really pretty mulberry paper! And they even had new stuff that wasn't Martha Stewart! So it looks like MS won't be taking totally over Michaels.
After the Martha Stewart dissappointment, we headed to Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby has paper..packaged and loose...for 50% off this week. My kind of sale! LOL I actually found paper packs I don't have. I walked out with 3 more paper packs to add to my collection, one of the Sticko (EK Success) wallet style albums (to play with....maybe take apart and use as a pattern/template), and a goodie for my NSSSF. The first pack was a Karen Foster "Throughout the Year" biggie bundle that Kenda already had. She picked it up on sale a few weeks ago. I'm standing there, debating whether I should or shouldn't, and Kenda gets one off the shelf and says "Here" and puts it in the cart. Enabler! LOL See...she made me do it!
All in all, a great day with a great friend...even if she forced me to spend money. Of course, we won't discuss the punches that I told her she had to have. LOL
