Okay, now you did it!

I went to a new scrapbook store here to buy what I need for the recipe swap. I bought 12 sheets of paper and that's that. They had nothing else for me to use to make my pages what I want them to look like. Twelve sheets of cardstock and I spent $50! No, not on 12 sheets of cardstock, they other stuff in the store too! How dare they? Pretty 12 x 12 sheets in coordinating colours of black and pink, and overlay sheets and brads and eyelets on sale. How dare they? All that and nothing for my pages! So that means I have to become very creative. Help?

It is very easy to go into the craft store and spend $50 easily. I'm looking for more selection of paper. Michael's here just has the same ole same ole every time I go in there. I was in AC Moore not long ago and they have a large selection of paper but its a travel. Does anyone buy cardstock or paper online?

I've only ever bought eyelets and punchies online. The place I was going through closed down though. Don't you have any scrapbook stores in your area? I just came back from Michaels because I need some plain old cardstock. I don't think they're carrying nearly as much scrapbooking supplies as they did a year ago.

Hi there!

Ok, I took your thread and an hijacking it to talk about Michael's for a minute....

Our local Michael's just moved to a new larger space (a few doors down from where they were) and for the last few months, we've (some family and friends) have been looking forward to this bigger store, more selection, more stuff, etc.... I went yesterday and was disappointed. I thought they'd have a better selection of stuff than the smaller store did. And, they did have more stuff- a greater variety of different crafts and kid-like projects...so now it just reminds me of Hobby Lobby without fabric or furniture.

To add injury to the insult... I had a $25 giftcard burning a hole in my pocket! (My wonderful MIL sent it for my "Easter basket"!) I didn't see anything that I REALLY wanted or needed, so we left. (YES, I left a scrap/craft store without spending any $$!)

SIGH....off to check out EBay. :-)

How on earth did you leave with nothing? I went to a scrapbook store today and spent $50. Then I tried a second store to see if I could find what I need and couldn't leave without spend $3.00. LOL

Oh it sounds like you had fun anyway! ;) I've also been out hunting for embelishments today for the swap. Went to three shops and only saw a "maybe" - not exactly what I'm looking for. Got 3 more shops to visit tomorrow, otherwise, back to the "maybe" store ;)

You actually went into 3 SB shops and didn't buy anything????? Come on Judy...you are letting the side down.

LOL...now there is a surprise Cleo!!!! Did you honestly expect them to have everything you were looking for to complete your recipe swap pages and nothing else to interest you? If I were you I would go back again and complain very loudly to the manager of that new SB store that they don't carry what you require, which only forced you to buy a lot of other unnecessary (very strokable) supplies!!! How dare they indeed!!! Very bad business practices...they need reporting to the scrapbooking supplies police!!!! LOLOLOL

LOL Marilyn...okay, well I did buy a four ring binder file I want to use for some misc A4 LO's! and headphones for the PC to watch QVC and not compete with DH's telly...but in my mind that's not TRUE stash, just additional thingies :)

I'm going to end up having to make my embellishments. My pages won't be what my mind envisioned but I'll think of something.

I did do that in the first store. She just laughed and took my money. LOL

Cleo, this group is really dangerous. I remember someone suggesting using some mesh to fill out a page. I didn't say anything at the time, but the mesh ended up costing me something like $10 to $15 at my LSS. Then I was lost as to how to attach the mesh. Several suggested glue dots. Those glue dots cost me around $30.

I bought glue dots for the first time yesterday. It was part of the $50 I spent at the first store. I still haven't used any, but they were $5.99 for

250 small ones. I'll save them for the buttons and little things I've never used because I didn't know how. $30 for mesh? Is this something you could buy at a hardware store for less? I know you can buy it in all sorts of colours at the LSS, but would Home Depot have it on a roll for less? I bought my eyelet tools at a plumbing store for a few bucks. Same with my little hammer, only $1.50 and Michaels wanted almost $10 for the same thing.

Ooh, smart cookie! This is the kind of stuff I need to hear, and one of the reasons I love this group!

Sorry Cleo, I hit the wrong button - I intended to send it to the group. I hate to send a message to an individual in the group unless I have been asked.

************* A friend of mine went to a florist shop and got her mesh in every color of the rainbow for a few cents per foot and in was 12" wide. It's not pre-adhesived like the magic mesh, but we (she shared with me) just use the spray adhesive and it is great. Sandy
