Michaels Grand Opening

So I was bored and my husband and I went out for something to do. Michaels opened a new store here I wasn't planning on buying anything. But spent $55 anyways...... They had 12 x 12 cardstock regular price $9.99 on for $1.77 for 20 sheets and 8 1/2 x 12 cardstock regular $9.99 on for $2.27 for 50 sheets, and ribbon for .15 cents a spool and Provo scissors on for .37 cents each!! Oh and tea lights 2/$1.00 for 50 per bag! I used my 40% off coupon for glue.

Anyways, I had fun. DH didn't............

Ohhhhhhhhhh....DH and both DS's and I were there today at our new Michaels. I was in there last week and wasn't impressed with the new store, but then I couldn't pass up some of the sales...and then a 50% coupon will get you thinking that there MIGHT be something in there that I could get. AND-- I still had that gift card that I got in my *Easter basket*. Sooooooooooooo, I stocked up on cardstock, got another Slab V (for $9.97 ...WOO HOO!), got a couple of photo boxes (since I'm getting behinder and behinder) and DS#1 got a Wiggles sticker book. That child can spot something "Wiggles" at 30 paces even if it's 1/2 hidden behind something else. He just KNOWS it's "Wiggles". There were lines everywhere and the cardstock was picked over (but I still got mine) and it was basically a madhouse, but we got in and out rather quickly and almost painlessly. After the giftcard, I spent under $20.

We had 2 carts...one for each kid. Hubby seemed to have an OK time...but was happy I made it quick.

Sounds like a great time Theresa!

Given what happened today, your next session of the RCS Scrappers Annonymous has been cancelled. You have proven without a doubt that you are well and truly addicted and no further enabling interventions are required at this time! Congratulations!

I'm lucky. My DH loves michaels as he makes wreaths, homemade scented soaps, and home made candles.

He enables my passion only now that I'm starting to get published and paid to teach. But as long as I keep my date with the NYPD Civil exam in may he will be happy.

As I once said "you've got grappling, I've got scrapping -- same cost different hobbies"

Hugs, Kate

I didn't go to the sale it's first day, and from talking to a few employees there, I'm glad I didn't. They said it was absolutly crazy there. The only thing that confused me with the new store is the layout. It's the opposite of the one I usually go to so when I walked in, I turned a sharp left to get to the scrapbook section and found a bunch of other stuff. I had this look of "oh no! No scrapbook stuff?" DH just laughed at me. LOL They put it all on the far right side of the store. He actually does really well in the LSS stores and craft stores. He knows what I like and will try to find things for me. I'm lucky in that. As we walked in a car pulled up and I didn't have to hear what the husband said to the wife, you could just tell. I think it was something like, "hurry up! I haven't got all day and if you're not out in 5 minutes you're walking home." She didn't look too happy.

Wow! My sister sells soap making products and I find her prices are better than Michaels. If you don't mind me passing along her website, it's

Her prices are American and she can ship from the US to save postage.
