checking interest in a new swap

Is anyone interested in a Rainbow Page Kit Swap?

It'll be 8 1/2x11. You'll pick a color from the list I'll provide and send in one sheet of plain cs and one sheet of coordinating print paper. You'll also include two handmade embellishments (pp, tags, shakers, titles, borders etc (no mattes)) and one purchased embellishment (2 yds of fiber, some eyelets or brads, sheet of stickers, wire etc) to go w/ your theme. If you're like me, you have enough of the latter in your stash to share w/out having to make a purchase. You'll make as many kits as there are people that sign up. Your theme has to be generic so that anyone can use it. For instance, some of us have no kids. Some of us may have cats and some dogs. We don't all have beaches or mountains either. Heck, I'm in Kansas. All I have are flat wheat & cornfields. LOL

If you use 12x12 albums you can always use the cs for mattes and print paper as an accent. I use 8 1/2x11 myself. I figure this size is easier for mailing too.

I've done a swap (not hosted) like this before and I have to say it was one of the best swaps I've participated in. I actually used everything I got. If you're interested just reply here and I'll start a new thread for sign ups in a couple days.

Be forewarned though that the postage might get a little high w/ mailing this swap. I'll limit it to a maximum of 10 people to try and keep a handle on the postage. Katrina in KS

PS: Is 6 weeks enough time to get this done? It is for me.

If you keep in mind that you can use priority flat rate envelopes when you use 8.5 x 11 you can probably keep it down to $3.85 for the postage. The evvelopes can be picked up at the post office for free and if you have a computer and print out the labels on the usps.com website, tracking is free. You can also reverse the addresses and create the shipping label for the return , affix it to an envelope that you include in yours. Just be sure that if you do that you change the return address to the new sender or it can't ship. I've done that a number of times to make sure that documents I needed shipped back to me quickly.

Katrina do all the kits we make have to be identical?

This could be an interesting swap. I might be interested. Though I'll be gone for a week so I might miss sign up. I'll try to check the news group while I'm gone. If not then I'll see if there is still a slot available when I return.

M-C, you pose a good question. One that I considered myself. I think no. As long as they're in your color theme they gon'y need to be identical. This might be a good way to clean out some stash. I just want good quality work on the handmades and no old bent edge papers. You know?

Makes complete sense to me, Katrina. I'm interested, but will need to see when this is due as I have a number of trips planned in the near future but no fixed dates yet!

I'd love it... alas I have to wait another six weeks or so before I can sign up for anything :( I understand the reason - to keep out scummy grabby people - but I miss my swaps. Waaah!

When it comes to a swap the hostess has the final decision on who she allows to join. She can stick to the three month rule or not at her discretion!

I'm all for it! It sounds like a very interesting swap. For us that use 12 x 12, you can always use paper and cardstock from the kit and adapt it to a

12 x 12. Or....do the 8 1/2 x 11 LO and attach that to a coordinating 12 x 12 paper and add a few more embellishments, etc around the 8 1/2 x 11. Am I making any sense? Anyways, I'm all for the swap Katrina! Six weeks should be plenty of time I think, but if others need more time, that's ok, too.

Sounds like a really neat swap, but I need to pass. I only have 12x12. But have fun. Maybe next time.
