Okay First crop details...

Well went to the first crop, it was great! I don't go to church, not getting on a religious topic, but my DH boss does, and well his wife invited me to the crop that they have annually at the church but anyone is welcome. So I was very excited. We got there and there was about 50 women, AND TONS OF STUFF! I guesstamate about 20,000$$ worth of stuff..lol Anywho, they had lunch and Creative Memories consultants, Stampin up consultants and lots of door prizes. I didn't get a whole lot done because I was getting ideas and checking out other peoples things. Made alot of friends too.

One thing is, I really liked the Creative Memories stuff, and the idea of being a consultant. It sounds like it would be a blast! I am wondering if any of you do this and if so do you like it? Are you making any money?

I did have lots of fun! The wife of my DH boss was great, and well she has never done this before, so I basically spent the whole time teaching her stuff, and showing her ideas and what not. It was lots of fun. And she really likes it now and wants to really get into it. So that's exciting. Plus the CM Consultant that was there said there isn't enough of them in our area and she cant keep up with all the people who want to host parties. So Sounds like an idea. Anywho I really enjoyed it alot! I cant wait till I find another one to go to!! I am thinking of hosting a crop at my house, and inviting friends from all over, and making a weekend of it. I think that would be fun too. Well thanks for letting me share!!

Sounds like you had a really good time! I don't usually get much done at a crop either, too much else to look at. Besides I've seen my stuff many times! LOL I say go for hosting a crop at your house, everyone would enjoy it!

Sounds like a great cop, Maie! It is so nice to find new friends.

Sounds like a great time! I have never been to a crop either. Seems like everytime I get invited, I have some family obligation that keeps me from going.

I think being a consultant sounds like fun, too. I am going to retire from teaching soon and would like to do something else creative.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. Its always nice to get out and meet new people too, especially people who share your interest in scrapbooking. I have a friend who has 4 kids that I'm trying to get hooked on scrapbooking so I have someone to scrap with. But when she comes she brings all 4 kids and she ends up chasing them around the whole time. So no luck there yet.

Just a heads up about being a consultant for any company. Most of them have non-compete clauses. Make sure that you know what that means. Often you are not "allowed" do work for any other company, not only during the time you are working with this one, but for at least one year after you leave that company. So if you ever have plans to strike out and open your own scrapbooking company/store within a year of leaving your consultanship, you will be breaching/breaking your contract and can be sued. That is one reason that the only company I have considered and am considering so far is TLC since they are clear about being an angel company and NOT having a do not compete clause. In most cases you also give them the right to use any picture or film of you that they might have in any way they want without further consultation. So if you do join, and you do go to conventions, beware of the faces you make in the background, LOL.

Sounds like a good crop... and like you've got the bug :) I've never been to a formal crop, and only to one at a friend's house... but it was great to spend some time sharing with other people who do what I do! There was meant to be a crop on friday night but the hostess cancelled - her kid was sick and so were half the ladies who were going to go. I couldn't find a ride there anyway... she's going to do it again at the end of the month and I really hope I'll be able to go! ~Karen aka Kajikit Crafts, cats, and chocolate - the three essentials of life

Sounds wonderful! Our lss has social crops every month and I keep threatening to attend. I'm a bit shy in person and its hard to get my courage up.

I am with Leaving Prints as an instructor and they also do not have a non compete clause for instructors.

When you become a leader in LP we do have a rule that you cannot be with another company. You only lose the leadership title, not your instructorship.

I am a Team Captain and designer with Leaving Prints so I feel it is my obligation to be with only one company. I make more than my husband makes monthly as a leader and with six kids, homeschooling 3 of them (and also 2 more *twins* on the way) I have no time to be with 2 companies anyway LOL Anyway, just a note that most companies will let you be an instructor, maybe having rules set when you go into management and leadership. Thanks for the info Karen. I am looking at it more from the hobby/help friends out type of mindset than as a business. I'm not really into going to strangers homes and doing presentations.

Sounds like you had a great time Marie! It's great that you made some friendships, too. Crops are lots of fun to go to, but I haven't been to one at an LSS in close to a year. But if scrapping at MC's house counts as a "crop" then I've been to several crops since October! LOL

You should go Rach. I'm kind of shy too and was hesitant about going to a crop. I finally decided to go and had a blast. Now I am part of a local group that meets monthly and am really enjoying it. Every other month we have a full day crop and I am learning all kinds of new things and it is fun to see what everyone else is working on.

I'm glad you had such a good time. Isn't it fun to meet new people who share your obsession? Good luck with becoming a Creative Memories Consultant.

I might just do that. I think I'll check and see when the next one is. Thanks for the encouragement.

Sounds like a great time Marie.
