knee replacement

Thanks! While I'm not looking forward to next week or the weeks immediately following, I am looking forward to a little bit down the road when I'll be able to be pain free. Knowing that it went well for you does help, so thanks for taking the time to post this!

MC, I wish you nothing but GOOD thoughts and happiness with you knee replacement. I need both of mine done. The pain is terrible. I am so frightened that I won't even talk about it yet. I have me a scooter but still don't have a way to carry it yet. We are going to buy a new mini van soon. In the meantime I use the scooters in the stores to get around. I have a weight problem to deal with as well. Plus my back is bad. Sometimes I can't help but wonder what in the world am I going to do.

Good luck with your knee replacement! I hope you have a rapid recovery and the best possible outcome... I know the surgery isn't any fun, but once you heal up your knee should be MUCH better.

Irene, I know what you mean about being frightened. I've been trying to avoid this surgery for a long itme. But like anything else it's better to do it before it goes beyond the point where they can use standard hardware. I've been told I would need a total knee replacement on my right side for 25 years. I've done a lot to avoid it, though I was never quite able to shed the weight I've steadily gained as a result of being more immobile. I'll let you know how it goes as soon as I can.

The support of the members of this group when it came to my two carpal tunnel surgeries last October and November really made it easier to get through it. The kindness and support of all the people here is truly one of the blessings that I'm grateful for everyday!

Larry and I wish you all the best and a fast recovery. Hopefully the recovery and subsequent Physical Therapy will be a quick one.

Keep your spirits high by keeping a stash of scrapbooking/cardmaking materials nearby as well as the remote control.

I hope that maybe you can get a part time nurse to help you around the house as I know Rick is awfully busy and will try to do the best he can.

Next Thursday. I sure hope I get an early morning surgery. I hate having to wait, hungry, for a later appointment!

No kidding, especially when you are fasting. It's bad enough when it's in the morning and you can't have a drink.

M-C, you will come through this surgery with flying colors! Just be sure you follow the drs. instructions as well as listen to the physical therapists. Mom began her therapy right away, when she could walk on a walker (I got her a pair of weight lifting gloves to keep her hands from blistering and being really sore), get herself up and down out of bed, a chair, the potty. She also had to be able to do stairs as there were stairs up into the house. She followed all the orders she got to a T, got a recumbent bike for home so she could exercise at home with it. She did remarkably well, everyone at the therapy center and her dr. were amazed. She is doing far better than I am right now! She's back to work, went back the first of last week.

I say all of htat because you are just as determined as she is. So, I know that you will wonderfully. Be sure you have someone there to help you at all times for several weeks. Big hugs!

M-C you'll do great. I will be pryaing for your speedy recovery. Like everyone else said, follow the doctors orders and you'll be back walking easy in no time. Take it easy before the surgery. We'll be thinking of you next week.
