LO's uploaded

Just uploaded 2 LO's and a picture of the wedding cake I made. So, give them a few minutes to show up.

LO number one is my son when he was 2 eating spaghetti. It's in the Family album. LO number two is in the Other Crafts album. It's a 6X6 page for a teacher that is retiring. Picture number 3 is in the Other Crafts album too of the wedding cake. I had fun making it. I patterned it after a style that cakes in the 70's were done like.

I took a peek at your pictures Lynne! How cute is that little boy eating spaghetti?! I liked the shape of the wedding cake. Much more interesting than just round. I do wedding cakes too! You did a fine job! What kind of coloring did you use for the burgandy?

Oh my gosh Lynne, doesn't Erik look like he's having a blast! I guess those pictures like so many of mine have been waiting their turn to be scrapped for a long time!

What a sweet page you made for Mrs Thomas. I am sure that she will be moved by the sentiments expressed.

LAst and certainly not least..WOW on the cake. She wanted burgundy! I never knew that food coloring would eventually change the taste of a cake. I always thought it was a tasteless product. Can you really tell now that cooking isn't something I research, LOL?

Summed up... great work on all fronts, Lynne!

Love the LO's! Your son is/was adorable! What a nice sentiment for the teacher retirement. I love the cake, great color.

Lynne, Love the spagetti LO. Where did you find the paper? Erik reminds me why Tuesday will be "one of those days" at the daycare - it's spaghetti for lunch day. I'll have 15 children and 2 helpers all next week. I hope you don't mind me scraplifting your retirement LO idea. Next fall will be one of our kindergarten teacher's last year. She taught four of my children. You are difinitely right. Even if a child does not have a teacher for their regular classroom, they still know the other teachers. Cake is nice - have not seen a hexagon cake for a while. I decorated cakes in the 70's and 80's. Still have that pan set somewhere. Come to think of it, I still have carebear, strawberry shortcake, pooh, star wars.....I just knew if I held onto things long enough I could use them again. Thanks for sharing. Sandy

It was a Wilton color that said "burgandy:" It looks really kind of a sweetheart pink, but once I got it set up amongst her burgandy roses and ribbons it really made it look burgandy.

Thanks M-C. Red is the the worst I think in the frosting world as far as tasting nasty once you achieve the red color. They have a color color called no taste red, but it's still nasty. I just try and stay away from really dark colors or just use them as accents.

Thanks Kenda. Don't we take some of the funniest photos of our children?!

Help you're self. I just did a page, but there is a gal that gave a page to anyone that knew Mrs. Thomas and wanted to do a page. We could do anything we wanted in the confines of the 6X6 page, which was fun getting things to fit. I have a garage full of cake pans too in different shapes I've picked up at yard sales over the years. Now that my kids are older I'm weeding them out. They were sure fun for a quick cake with a star tip.

PS. I see spaghetti paper all the time at the LSS's. If you're looking for some and can't find any give me a holler and I'll scout for some for you.

Both layouts are great. The spaghetti one reminds me of a picture of my oldest nephew my mom has. The cake is beautiful.

Thank you Irene for the compliment. I think we all have our own style and it's fun to look at each other's work. I find you to be very talented as well.

The cake was yummy too. I insist that my cakes taste great.

We love spaghetti here. I make it almost once a week. I have a great sauce recipe that makes up quickly and is SO delicious. Thank goodness both of my kids learned to eat it without making quite such a big mess. haha

Basil Sauce

1 handful (about 4 T) of fresh basil, minced (2 T of dried basil can be substituted in a pinch) 1/3 cup of olive oil 1/2 onion, chopped 1 clove garlic 32 ounces of tomato sauce

Place oil, onion, basil in pot and cook until onion is soften. Add garlic and tomato sauce. Simmer for approximately 20 minutes. Mine starts simmering and then I start a large pot of water to boil for the pasta. By the time the pasta is cooked, drained and ready to serve the sauce is ready.

1/2 pound of browned ground beef can be added to make it a meat sauce.

Your pages are such a treat! What a cutie your son was then! The teacher's page was very nice. I am sure it touched her. What a cool pink wedding cake! I could never be able to pull that off! It is like wearing boots or sneakers with your wedding dress. It takes someone special!
