Making it perfectly clear and babbling :)

When sorting and organizing my craft room I did NOT throw any scrapping supplies away. Nor did I give any away. I tend to be a cookbook-aholic. I gave away a huge box of cookbooks. I find them at yard sales, book sales, used book stores, so I have a lot even though I did give a huge box to the used book store. Have to make room for those Scrapbook books on my book shelf.

I thought I should clear things up to make sure you guys didn't think I was losing my mind. hehe

I did find items for 3 different LO's that had gone missing and I'm hoping to get them done or on their way this Friday.

Right now I'm stressing, because hubby who said he wouldn't be late from work is now 2 hours late and I have a PTA meeting tonight. The kids are 10 and 13, but I still stress leaving them home alone for any amount of time. I missed last months meeting, because hubby wasn't going to be home at all. This month he said the kids will only be home alone about 15 minutes. I'm taking the cell phone and I'll only be around the block. Gotta make this meeting. The kids' school maybe closing and the carnival planning is under way. Since my Silent Auction brings in 1/3 of the proceeds I better go. If the school is closing I'm not busting my butt for the auction.

Taking a deep breath, Lynne

Oh gosh Lynne! I'm sure the kids will be just fine for that short amount of time.

Hope the school doesn't close. Let us know.

They said tonight that we'll know in 2 weeks whether or not the school is closing. The real bummer is the 2 schools closest to me are closing. There are about 4 more not too far away, but I don't consider them my neighborhood schools. I'm so sad for my daughter. One more year and she'd be done. She's a trouper though I'm sure she'll do fine where ever she goes. I went to 13 schools growing up and I was just fine. I just wanted my kids to be in one school for elementary, one for junior high and one for high school.

Oh Lynn, I can't imagine what that would be like. I would think it would be so frustrating. Are the schools in the same corporation where text books and basic curriculum are the same? Living in a small community I went to the same school my mother and grandmother went to. The HS building was condemed the year I was a junior and the year after I graduated they built a new HS and consolidated the three HS's in the county. My three older children went to the same Elementary school I did (it was built the year I was in the 5th grade). Technically the younger two (one of which is still there) went to the same elementary school too. They just had to rebuild it after the tornado of 1990 destroyed the old one. I have my fingers crossed your daughter gets to finish her last year in her school. Sandy

What state are you from Lynne? Our school is doing the same exact thing. Carnival and silent auction.

I'm in California. This will be the 6th year I've done the Silent Auction. I enjoy it, but it's a lot of work. I usually win some cool stuff, but last year I had sprained my ankle (3 weeks earlier) and didn't get around (hobble) to check my bids and I didn't win a cotton pickin' thing. :(

Our silent auction is baskets. Each class has a basket with a theme. My sons class them is scrapbooking. Yeah. I can handle that. Then each child is asked to bring something in to put in the basket. I'm going to make a paper bag album to put in there. I usually big on the basket of my sons class. This is one basket I wouldn't mind having.

We also have the baskets and they make probably 1/3 of the money for the silent auction. They are SO popular. There are baby baskets... the most popular. Last year there were two car care baskets that people were fighting (bidding) over. I made a basket myself to donate to the auction last year. It was a "Family Night at the Movies" basket. The dollar tree had DVDs which I bought one checked the quality before including them and they were great. I bought a plastic bucket that said popcorn on it and it had 4 smaller "Popcorn" bowls. I included two large boxes of candy from the DollarTree and 2 microwave popcorn packets. Then I wrapped it all up. It cost me about $12 to put together and sold for $30. I think the baskets always look so nice that people can give them as gifts. Since ours is close to Mother's day I think that is the case.

I would love a scrapbooking basket. Unfortunately all craft items languish at my Silent Auction. My girlfriends and I snap them up. So, I don't ask for craft donations any more. If one comes in though I won't turn it down. We've had Creative Memories, Stampin' Up, and a Stamp store donated a beautiful basket, but they don't get bids. So sad, but good for me. hehe

Lynne, I just had a peak at your craftroom! It looks so light and spacious! I bet you'll scrap up a storm in there :)) I love your dark wood round table and chairs, it goes very well with the "airyness" of the rest of the room :)
