I used a fine sand paper to lightly sand off some of the paint. Just enough to give the paint and glue a bit of a 'bite'.
I still have the pages posted on my picturetrail account. Just go here:
Oh yes you can buy them in Canada. I'm in Calgary. :o) Just go to the drug store, or Walmart, Zellers, the grocery store. Anywhere that sells junk food actually. They're slightly bigger than a sucrets tin, but not quite as deep. They're just very great tasting mints with a ton of taste. You will probably find them closer to the cash register, it's one of those 'compulsive' shopper items.
I used modpodge to glue down the paper to the lid of the tin, then I put a coat over top of the whole thing. The embellishment is actually a tag cutout. It's one little round piece of paper that I cut out. No real eyelet, button or metal. Just a piece of paper. The three stars, however, are metal. I glued them down using white elmers glue.
It's going to hold a mini scrapbook with a few pictures of my son.
Just want to thank everyone for your comments. I got the idea from a magazine, so I can't take credit for it. If you can find the November 2004 issue of Paper Crafts, they show how to alter a pringles can, an international coffee tin, and something else that I can't think of off the top of my head.
Very Cute!!

I'm thinking you could put lots of things in them....mini albums/books, magnets. Hey! What about a tin filled with tags? You could use decorated tags to be used for scrapping, or just gift tags for special occasions. The creative juices are starting to flow....
very nice. I love it!
