Off to Stamp Camp

I'm off to Stamp Camp in a few. Its for 3 hours and were are going to make 10 cards. Some of the cards we are going to make are a genie bag (never heard of it), tri folding, dry emobossing and not sure what else. I'm excited but nervous. I've never been to Stamp Camp or any kind of event like this before. I'm not really an experienced stamper. I play around a lot but nothing great. I'll post later what you make and yesterday I started my christmas cards, really like the way they are turning out. I'll load them up to webshots later also.

I'm back from Stamp Camp! I did enjoy making all of the cards. At first I was very uncomfortable. The ladies there were far from friendly. I said hello to the one in hopes to start a conversation with her and she stuck her nose up, rolled her eyes and turned away. They were all clique. I decided not to let that bother me and I went about my busy of making my projects and I enjoyed it. I'm hooked on a few of the SU items (not if I needed a class for that). Time to sit down with the catalog and make an order soon.

I sure hope that the consultant did a better job of making you feel welcome than those ladies did! How sad! Maybe with a little time they will thaw out a little, if not perhaps there is a better group for you to join.

Hi Chrissy,

I just had a similar experience. I took a class at a Stamp store last Thursday. I came into the room and sat down where there were no supplies or purses. 3 ladies came in and they wanted to sit together. First thing the gals already there did was point at me and ask me if I'd move so they could sit together. I understand that I'd want to sit with my friends, but they weren't too friendly about it. Then I again sit where there are no supplies and purses. A gal comes in the room and says I'm in her seat. I wanted to say "I didn't see your name on it!", but I just slowly looked up from what I was reading and looked at her. She said, "Oh that's OK I'll sit here and sits next to me. It was obvious the other 13 ladies take classes together regularly. They were hogging the supplies taking things off my spot on the table. Finally, it came time that they needed help. Ahhh huh. I was doing great and they loved what I was doing. Asked if I would help them. I said in joking manner "I can help you, but first you need to quit hogging all the supplies." Things eased up a bit, but it was really uncomfortable.

You are a better person than I am, I would have told them to go to hell.

Usually I am a person that speaks my mind weather or not I should or not. I'm not very good at holding my thoughts in.You do something to peeve me I'm the first to tell you. I've been working on trying not to let people get to me or aggervate me. So today was my true test, I passed but don't think I would pass again if giving the opportunity again.

Sorry to hear that the ladies weren't welcoming. That's too bad, but it sounds like you handeled it well. I think returning rudeness in kind would have only made it worse and more uncomfortable, and therefore, you would have felt like you wasted your money. I've found if I kill with kindness, and keep smiling, I end up melting the ice much faster. I've even made really good friends that way!!

And the demonstrator will hopefully help next time to, in fact you may want to mention it to her, if you're comfortable with it. It's in her best interest that her clients work well together.

Anyway, I myself am new to stampin up, and really like the products.....

I hope your next exerience is better!
