OT: Cards are out

I was able to address and mail my beautiful handmade cards. Felt so good to get them out. I experimented with having my printer address the envelopes. I think that saved a little time. I did find that since I put each card in a blank envelope as the year went on I did have to remove them. So, note to self... make sure I have envelopes don't put cards in them. I got everything stamped and mailed Monday.

There is a 20 cent charge for envelopes over 1/4 inch thick, because they can't be run through the machines. I didn't want to take a chance and paid it for a few of the thicker cards. The postal person tried to guilt me a little for hand making thick cards. I told her I knew they cost more and that they were just so darn cute with ribbon and buttons on them. She smiled and said, "I know. Homemade cards are the best." I guess she knew I couldn't be guilted.

Big Holiday Hugs to everyone, Lynne

I don't think this is that off topic, since you did lead the charge on getting everyone to make their cards ahead of time.

I actually have to admit something-the reason I didn't participate was because I still had my cards from last year. I was training for a January marathon (never again) and never got them out. Mine went out on Monday and oh my did it feel good to get them mailed. Sat and addressed them all during the Survivor finale. I did that class through Big Picture Scrapbooking and felt our letter was pretty positive too. Got some pretty stationary at Target and wa-la, it all went pretty easy. I had a few that also fell into the thick category. The postal guy was very understanding and I thanked him profusely for weighing my cards (I have a scale at home, and I knew some were right on the line of being over an ounce). That and smiling seemed to put him in a cheerful mood. Or maybe because I didn't have a box to ship?

Anyway, I digress. I do th> I was able to address and mail my beautiful handmade cards. Felt so good to

Yay Lynne for getting it all done. I know its a great feeling of accomplishment. I will have to keep that in mind on printing out the addresses. Did you do it directly on the envelopes, or did you use labels?

I am so glad I made so many cards I actually had enough to mail out, and only need to make a few more to hand out at work. I sent out round one of my cards last week, and finished the rest of them up tonight to stick in the mail tomorrow. Some may be late in arriving. I have to see if some of my cards need extra postage too, and I am not looking forward to standing in line at the PO. Next year I will have to keep that in mind when making them to mail out! I will also buy stamps a little at a time too..phew! I think i went through 3 books!

Merry Christmas! Linda

I printed right on each envelope. I have a slot on my printer I've never even looked at until I decided to do it. I'd slide it in... it would pull it through and print in just the right spots.
