OT: Condolences

I'm not a religious person at all, and have mixed feelings about this, but when I turned on CNN a few minutes ago to see he died, my eyes watered. I guess I cared more than I thought......

I've been watiching with "baited breath" for that last miracle to happen....and I guess in a way it did. He's at peace now. He was not only a very important figure as the spritual leader of all Roman Catholics, but as a "World Leader" he was able to help influence changes around the world. He was a very intelligent and driven man who did his very best until the very end.

May he rest in peace. Amen.

He must've died since I logged on this morning, as AOL's welcome screen was still saying he was alive.

My sympathies to all those who looked to him as a spiritual leader. Was reminded on the news yesterday that he spoke an amazing 12 languages!

I recently read Dan Brown's (author of "The Da Vinci Code") "Angels & Demons" & learned much that I hadn't known about the choosing of a new pope. Found it very interesting. Our local news station covered much of the same info yesterday.

Interesting. Turned on the news after reading Judy's post & they just said that the world was notified via email. That's definitely a first (at least regarding a pope, not necessarily a secular world leader).

I grieve for hipassing. He in my lifetime now is the oly Pope that I can remember nad he has afected ALL religious sects with his beliefs and ways. He will be greatly missed.
