Wow -I have one of these in my ornament collection that I think my grandmother made many many years ago!
Couple suggestions per my experience.
When you have the 5 glued together for the top. Put the hanger loop in then. Very hard to do once the center ring is on.
Also when cutting out the 2 inch circles (or whatever size you decide to do) remember that you need some pictures oriented with pointed side of triangle as the top and some with flat side as top of triangle.

Wow, I never would of thought about orienting the pictures like that until it was to late. Thanks for the tip. I can't wait until I have all my other projects finished so I can start one.
