OT: e-mail issues

I'm having to use google to read the newsgroup right now and am not used to it. I may miss some posts...... and it is driving me crazy. My e-mail worked, but the newsgroup did not. I kept getting messages that the newsgroup will not connect to the server. I tried to deleat the newsgroup and reinstall it, but can't do that either as there is no connection to the server. Verizon and I were on the phone for an hour yesterday over it and they insist that it has to do with the virus scan or the computer, not them. I have vista and after researching the net found that norton is just not good for vista. Why would the computer come with it on there if it won't work right with it. I tried their (Norton's) suggestions first and attempted to shut down the e-mail scan...no go. Then I got mad and deleated norton and got one of the free scans like my older DD suggestted. Still no go. Then I got really mad and took back the kids computer and tried to reinstall the newsgroup to to Outlook Express on it. When I got the same message across the room on a different computer...no connection to the server....I knew I had been scammed by verizon. Especially now that not only does the newsgroup not work, but the regular e-mail is giving the same message now...on both computers!! I'm sure I will be on the phone today during naptime again with them.

I feel you pain after having 3 weeks of internet problems. Being on the phone with them and them coming out twice I think they may have fixed it. The guy had to climb the pole and check our connection to their service. They've never done that in the past and come to find out there was a problem at the root of the service. I'm knocking on wood that things will work for you soon too.

I'm with you Sandy. We got a new Mac and the only way I can read the group through entourage is with a paid email account which we don't have (and it isn't worth it just for the newsgroup) so I'm stuck with google. Not the best, but at least I'm here. I really hate having to type in google's validation words every time I post. Hopefully you can get everything straightened out soon.

Talked to verizon again today. for two hours they tried before finally admitting it was their problem and they needed time to figure out how to fix it. They will get back to me within a few days....so for now it's google or nothing.

It's always so frustrating when companies won't admit that it's their problem. Hopefully they'll get it fixed soon so you won't have the frustration of going through google!
