OT FUN: Relative? (Try to keep track of this one!)

Many many many years ago When I was twenty three I got married to a widow Who was as pretty as could be. The widow had a grown up daughter Who had hair of red. My father fell in love with her, And soon the two were wed.

This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life. My daughter was my mother, For she was my father's wife. To complicate the matters worse, Although it brought me joy, I soon became the father Of a bouncing baby boy.

My little baby then became A brother-in- law to Dad, And so became my uncle Though it made me very sad. For if he was my uncle, Then it also made him brother To the widow's grown up daughter Who, of course, was my step mother.

Father's wife then had a son, Who kept them on the run And he became my grandson For he was my daughter's son. My wife is now my mother's mother And it makes me blue.

Because. although she is my wife, She's my grandmother, too. If my wife is my grandmother, Then I am her grandchild.

And every time I think of it It simply drives me wild. For now I have become The strangest case you ever saw. As the husband of my grandmother I am my own grandpa!

Hey we all have one in our family! LOL Or am I the only one? My dad's brother ran off and married his aunt (by marriage, not blood). How about you? 8-}~

I have grandparents from 3 or 4 generations back that were double cousins. I found this out while I was helping Mom with stuff for grandma's (Mom's mom) 80th b-day a few years back. These double cousins are on my grandma's side, and the first thing that popped in my head and out my mouth was "So that's what's wrong with Grandma!" Oh thank goodness Grandma wasn't there.

My Mom had eight children with my father (her first marriage) after their divorce she married my step-dad who had five from his first marriage. Together they had one child. My sister married my step-brother after they had lived in the same house as brother and sister for four years. Does that make her both sister and sister-in-law to our youngest sister? Sandy

What dirty little secrets ya'll have.... I have a great aunt that married her brother-in-law and they had a child they named after the deceased first husband/brother. But that's as complicated as I know it's gotten within my tree.

I guess the biggest family secret that only came out 5 years ago is that during WWII my uncle had a baby out of wedlock. I guess my mom knew about it as did my grandparents, but we found out when my cousin (remember my folks were all born in Belgium and that is where my cousin lives) using a website that specialized in putting families back together, found my brother. Our family name is pretty unique so it wasn't all that hard to do, once he put his mind to it.

How weird is that to find out that you have a 60 year old cousin that you never even knew existed. You have to understand that we are a very, very small family, at least in the past 2 generations. Funnier still he is called Claude as is my youngest brother who passed away two years ago. My cousin Claude looks so much like my uncle, that there was no denying the relationship!

I have double cousins too. They are my mom's 1st cousins. It's kind of fun to read the family tree and see double cousins written there.
