OT: Gas prices

Last night we drove around to find the cheapest gas (including Kroger card - we sometimes get 10% off if you pay $100 and up). So we went by this Big Circle gas station - it's was $3.96 last night. So I drove by there - it's was $3.92 (on my way to Kroger) and then on my way back home from Kroger - It's $4.15!!!!!!!! Boy it's really outrageous. We do have 3 vehicles and we have decide to use 1 vehicle (my hubby drives Jeep Wrangler to work sometimes). I drive the mini van. Lot of times I tell him to take the van (good mileage on that van and he drives to work & back home). I don't get out much because of the gas. Marcie

Gas is about $4.25 here in the Chicago area, a little bit higher in the city I think. At most of the stations here, you can get a $0.10/ per gallon discount if you get a car wash at the same time. It is a good thing we don't have to do too much driving. Steve's commute to work is about 5 miles and most of the shopping I do is within 5 miles of home.

Out of curiosity, how much do the car washes generally run?

I'm in Bloomington, IL -- 1/2 way between Chicago & St. Louis and the gas station I drove past this morning was at $3.99 for regular unleaded.

I'm looking into buying a newer car - hopefully it'll get better gas mileage...even a little bit would be great - and it is difficult to get much for my 2002 vehicle - the Kelly Blue Book values have dropped so much since no one wants a used car!!
