OT: Help! Screen name

I am now posting through google and it is MUCH MUCH better than it was from a year ago!!! I can also access group this way when I am gone nad can get online!

I have a question, how do you change your screen name that shows up on posts? I want to send my SS some greetings, but can not figure out how to do it. I had a sub account set up with my yahoo mail, but forgot (DOH!) the password and can not get back in. I called customer "help" service (HA HA!) and got no where. So I went to try set up another one and can not get into even my main account as I think th edummies set the wrong password - aaarrrggghhh!!!

So any guidance, spell that out, remember I am a MAN! on where to go in google to change or add a new name. Does this make sense?

Hello Dave,

Yes, you have to create a new account. What you can do is keep the passwords the same so it is easier to rememeber instead of trying to remember a dozen different passwords. Hope that helps.

Good luck dealing with Yahoo (the name fits their customer service department). We had a problem about a year ago with someone hijacking our account and changing the password. We never did get them to let us back into the account after jumping through all their hoops and giving them everything they asked for. They are not customer friendly.

You just need to open another account with whatever name you want to use.

HI Dave! You just need to open another email account with Hotmail, Yahoo, or google or some other place that offers free email, and set your user name to a 'fake' name, so your SS wont know who sent it! I also keep a small notebook handy and write down my passwords to websites I dont go to often, and I also try to use the same password so I wont forget! Your SS is going to be one very lucky person with you for a SS!! :-) Good Luck

I know, I am dense but do not quite understand.

I went to gmail, settings, accounts. Do I add another email address or account?

I told you I needed a picture LOL!

Dave, heres some step by step instructions:

Go to

click on Sign up for Gmail, bottom right of screen.

On the page that comes up, it will say "Create an Account"

you just fill in your information, but where is says "desired login name", use a FAKE name.. like secret RCSSanta or something like that, so that your SS will know its from SS, but not know your true identity!

Enter your password info and alternate email address on the rest of the form as requested.

Click on the terms of service agreement, follow directions from there. You may have to check your alternate email address for verification. Thats all there is to it!

As far as your okcdave account, I dont think you can change the name once it is set, but i think you can mange other email accounts using Gmail, but I am not sure exactly how...there is info on that in the settings.

Its much easier to just create a defferent SS account. When you send an ecard, be sure to use the ss account. HTH Linda
