please help! how much to charge?

Hello! I have a difficulty to make an invoice for prototype and pattern of man's underwear diving suit. Does anyone has an idea how much it can cost? I want to ask about 250 dollars. What do you think? It took me about 3 days to make everything. Thank you in advance for your answers! Have a good day! Katia

Sounds like you are underselling yourself there, but if you didn't cost this before you made it, you might like to charge this and call it a discount for experimental work.

I agree with Kate. But it all depends on where you live and what the going rates are. People pay more in the city than in the country. I charge by the hour, equivalent of 30 USD/hr. . I subtract for time spent figuring out new things. I am not sure what an underwear diving suit is but it sounds advanced. Good luck!

It would be a onepiece, like a "wet skin". Think catsuit and you've pretty much got it. What I don't get it why you would have to do a custom draft when there are several lycra one peice patterns out there that can be tweaked for just about any purpose.

Kate's rate sounds about right. I bill pattern work seperate from the sewing and also dont chrge for the puzzling it out part. One should be able to cut/sew one of these in less than 2 hours.

penny

Thanks for answers! I will try to bill more, I'm in France, somebody here told me that I should charge for prototype + patterns at least 400 dollars. I hope my client expect this price! Thank you, good luck everybody!
