OT: I've won a Dreyer's summer block party!

I'm SO excited! On the Dreyer's website a about a month or so ago you could write a small essay about why you'd like a ice cream party for your neighborhood. I wish I'd saved a copy of my essay now. It was about how my

95 year old neighbor Pete, who passed away in May had kept us all united by his visits. How we're all so busy with work and kids and he was retired and had the time. And now that he's gone I'd like to get the neighborhood together and keep in touch with one another in honor of Pete.

GRAND PRIZE PACKAGE: Each winning entrant will be required to sign and have notarized an affidavit/prize acceptance/release of liability form to receive a grand prize package consisting of the following:

- Door-step Delivery of Twelve (12) cartons of Dreyer's Slow Churned® light ice cream and 4 boxes of Dreyer's Slow Churned® light ice cream bars ($250.00 AVR)

- One (1) "Party In A Box" (napkins, ice cream scoops, spoons, name tags, disposable camera, etc.) ($175.00 AVR)

- Total Retail Value for each prizewinner is $425.00 [Total approximate retail value for all grand prize winners is $637,500].

That is so neat. Congratulations! What a neat way to get the neighborhood together. Our neighborhood did a barbecue every summer the weekend closest to the anniversary of the tornado that destroyed so much of our town and our neighborhood. We did it for 10 years, and then so many of the neighbors were gone (many were elderly) and families moved away we just quit. I do miss that kind of get-to-gether. Sandy

That's so neat Lynne! That was sweet of you to enter that for your block. It seems that anymore, no one wants to get to know their neighbors. We know a few of our neighbors, though. Some we just know their faces, wave at each, say hi, etc.
