OT: Job related Funny (but true) stories

Hi All,

As everyone knows I work in the 124 Room (a.k.a. complaint room) of the 109 pct. Language barrier is rediculous but the stuff these people come up with can be funny.

yesterday two women came in to make a complaint, both came with translators and both VERY VERY SERIOUS.

1) Woman comes in with her lawyer/translator who wants to make a report for assault charges and has photographs. Problem is that the assault happened in February. It seems her boyfriend/lover was upset with her and beat her up severely. I asked her what took nearly two months to come in. She responded "I didn't want my husband to know that I'm having an affair and I had to wait for him to leave on business trip." Pressing charges not an option. My detective even asked me if this was a set up. No it wasn't. Out the door she went.

2) Another woman came in stating she lost her Tawainese passport and wanted to report it lost. As required she brought in a letter from the Tawainese government stating she was indeed given a passport but here is the kicker IT EXPIRED IN 1973. She got very angry with me that I wouldn't take the report as she was going to her country to vote and didn't want to use her American Passport (which by the way is valid until 2009). I told her she should have made the report in the early 1970's not 35 years later. She left cursing me in Tawainese. Oh well.

3) A friend, police officer, caught a bank robber within seconds of stealing several thousands of dollars from a local bank. The bank robber said he didn't go into that bank to steal he made a deposit. Boom. The enclosed die pack with the money explodes and blue dye starts dripping down the perps' legs. Problem is that my friend was "frisking" him and got the full brunt of the explosion of dye in the face so he came in with a 6' 6" black man with blue/white pants in cuffs and shackles and my colleague 5' 9" white man came in looking like a smurf. So we call him smurfy. LOL. the good thing is that the bank robber was wanted in 17 robberies (+/-) and is off the street.

Hugs, Kate

Oh lordy Kate, I do love your true life stories! You should put these all together and eventually write a book with cartoons, LOL! I'd certainly buy a copy or two for DH and DS!

I have done NSSSF swaps. The first two times it was great. I really enjoyed it. I loved the emails getting to know them better. The second time. I really got to know the person, but I only received 1 package at the beginning. I agree it's not all about what you get. I just felt I had spent a lot of money to make sure I got each month like we are supposed to. You get exited to see what comes. Then nothing. This person isn't on the group anymore. And I would do it again. I think about if every sign up. But money just has been really sparse. Especially since I've been going to the doctor a lot to figure out some problems and we have a 10000.00 deductible a year!!! We have just changed insurances and the guy did it wrong! My DH is not happy putting it mildly!!!!!!! You have been great Tammy. Emails for the signups have been good too. And I thank you for being the coordinator for it also!!!

I really like the idea also about the page swap of ourselves. When I went to the dairy barn scrap weekend a couple of years ago, that was one of my favorite parts. Oh yes I loved meeting everyone. I didn't get much scrapping done because I was too busy talking and see how everyone else scrapped. LOL. But having that book with everyone's page about themselves was awesome. I still pull it out every so often and look at it.
