Thanks for relaying the message. So sorry her house is damaged. It must be frustrating to have to wait until after the next storm to pass to get things done. We'll continue to keep all the FL folks in our prayers.

Wow...that is terrible. I sure hope Ivan steers clear of Florida or all of our sakes, but certainly for her.

I guess she was pretty smart shipping W & W off before something happened to them also.

Susan, thanks for letting us know about Carol. I figured by the tv reports, that she had gotten hit there. My family in Fla was lucky, and didn't get any damage. Only the damage caused by kids out of school for six days :-) I have a neat story about Charley. The day after ,a mama cat gave birth to kittens out in the open and she was trying to move them to safety and moved all but one when she came back to find some dogs sniffing around the tiniest so she abandoned him. Fortunately for this little blind newborn, a man rescued him and took him to a young woman who gladly accepted him and got all the necessary food, equipment,to care for him. Then she found she coud not have him in her apartment. She was telling her bank teller about this and when she saw the nice lady behind her with tears in her big blue eyes, she appealed to her. She hesitantly said I will discuss it with my husband. We have a few pets already. She called him on her cell phone ,he told her whatever she wanted to do was fine with him. So she took the little orphan home with it's tiny bottle and supply of mother cat's milk and began her two hour feeding and caring for this tiny baby who hadn't even opened it's eyes yet. Of course,it's name is Charley. All of her kids and hubby have fallen in love with Charley and he is now four weeks old and bouncing around, annoyng the dogs and rabbit. When asked by his daughter, how he felt about Jill bringing home the newborn, her new dh only smiled and said how lucky they were that she is a sucker for rescuing strays. All of their pets are rescues. Two dogs,a turtle,a rabbit and now Charley. It was very touching to me that her new DH considered his three children and he to have been rescued by her as well.

Thanks Dave....I'm fine at present. Work has been hectic but that's pretty normal in my department. I'm batting around the idea of leaving tomorrow to "head for the hills". I just don't know where to go. Maybe GA since I have a brother and my dad is there. I'm sure my boss will not be pleased and who knows if I will have a job to return to since the time hasn't been preapproved but.....we'll deal with that later. REgarding preparing for Ivan...my DS and DH are boarding up windows as I type. DH took today off to play nurse b/c I had oral surgery this morning. I was out like a light until about 1pm but am now up and about so he's killing time preparing for Ivan.

Hope you are OK Susan! Getting out of Dodge is a good idea. Isn't tomorrow Saturday? Do you have to work 7 days a week? I'm hoping and praying that the storm goes into the middle of the gulf and breaks apart. My DS got back to Deland last night and thankfully his appartment was OK. However Stetson had extensive damage and will not open till at least next Wednesday. So Shaun and his GF are off to Baltimore to see her parents and avoid Ivan.

Prayers out for the continued safety of all.

Poor Carol. Please send her my best! Here is hoping that everything gets taken care of soon and that her life can get back to normal! Let me know if there is anything she needs or if there is anyway that I or we can help!

Yes, I'm off on Saturday but Ivan isn't supposed to be here til Mon-Tues so if I leave tomorrow, I don't plan on coming back until the end of next week. that's where the unscheduled time off comes in.

Glad your DS and his GF will be safe.....and thanks for the well wishes. Hugs S

Thank you ,Judy, Jill is of course, my daughter. She just can't stand to see anything homeless.Sometimes she takes them in and then finds homes for them but Charley is there to stay. They are all in love with him. I am looking forward to seeing him when we go to visit in Florida. We only have one old cat now. He is twenty years old and so much a part of our family, even he thinks he's a person. He has many layouts in my scrapbooks. We take him with us when we go anywhere overnight because he hates being alone and he likes to go.

Hi Sabrina :))

We don't have any kids, and our cats are our "babies". And they behave like babies too!!! I've got such a lot of kitty pics and I plan to make a scrapbook for everyone of them. 20 Years is OLD! He must have had a pretty good life. It's always a problem for us to go on holiday, because we can't take all four along, so in the end we get someone to house sit and spend most of our holiday phoning home to make sure everything is going well :)

I only go online weekends, and have just fininshed reading all the news of the group. I'm still finding my feet in getting to know everyone, but all of you sound like a real friendly caring family.

Could you give me your website? I'm not sure if I've got it allready. Thanx :)))

Your fellow is a senior statesman of kitties. It sounds like Charley will have a wonderful home.

Judy, I don't have a website but my bio is on the RCS website and that has a lot about all of us. I have webtv and have not been able to make a website ( it can be done, I just haven't ,lol) I think you are our only member in South Africa. Please tell us about your little corner of the world! Where exactly do you live? Is it hard to get scrapbooking supplies there? I know some places sbing is not as big as others. My friend in Sweden says it is just sort of catching on there and is becoming easier to get supplies. LOL I think I am sounding nosey but we all want to know everything.

Most places we go are cat lovers, but there are a couple of places that either no pets are allowed or really don't like kitties. We figure in both cases, Rusty (14 years old) is better staying with some one that does like him and want him there. :-) My mom even buys him Christmas presents.
