Glad you made it through both storms safe and with no damage. I hope Ivan leaves you all down there alone. I hope Charley keeps doing really well.

Hi Sabrina and everyone else :))

We (that's me and my hubby Nico) live in Cape Town, Which is also known as the "mother city" as it was colonized in 1652. Some people say it's one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but I'm not biast....no really I'm not :PPPP. Anyway, if anyone is interested, you can see my part of the world on

I'm 33 and Nico's 36 and have beenmarried for nine years. We are both paralegal advicers and work withproperty transfers. I first heard about scrapbooking on a radio talkshow and it sounded very interesting, because you always have loads of pictures from holidays and occasions and it gets so boring just to put in normal photo albums. We went on the internet about a month ago, and I started looking for info on scrapping and came across this newsgroup :))) I think scrapping as a hobby is catching on very fast in SA. I did'nt quite know how it worked, but after checking out some of your websites, I'm getting a good idea. There are a few stationary shops in the city, but I have'nt come across a shop solely dedicated to scrapping.

Okay, I think I've hogged enough space for now...

PS Everyone please pardon any spelling or grammar errors, English is my second language ;)) LotsaLuv Judy, SA

Teresa, we buy all four of our kitties Christmas gifts. I told the hubby when we had three, that we can't get anymore, because the neighbours are going to call us the crazy cat couple. :)) But of course another little one had to find a home or go to the shelter....the rest is history. The baby of the family turns 1 the 9th of October, and yes, she's going to get a birthday pressie :)

Good to hear from you Hilda!! You had to name the squirrel Charley? :o) That's funny! Glad you are safe and at this point, it's looking like Ivan might give us a little break!

We used to give all the grandcritters a Christmas gift but stopped 2 years ago. It had reached 5 horses, 6 dogs, 5 cats and 3 birds. I was spending as much on critter gifts as on people gifts. Peggy in NJ

Judy, If I didn't say welcome, well, wellcome to our group! You will learn a lot from these talented ladies and gents. We also feel like a large extended family and love hearing about the things you scrap. I love hearing about the places everyone lives and long ago I worked with a heart physician from SA. He was an assistant to that famous guy. LOL I am a retired RN. Your Englsh is great! What is your first language?

LOL Of course your kitties get pressies for Christmas! I'll bet they have stockings ,too. Ours has one that looks like a kitty, hangs by it's tail. He knows he will get something in it,too. Also, he loves Thanksgiving because he gets turkey ( one of his fave foods) He gets so excited as soon as he starts to smell the turkey roasting. LOL He is not too spoiled!

Judy We're glad Scrapbooking is catching on in SA and we are glad you joined us. thanks for sharing your info. By the way...you weren't hogging space, you were letting us get to know you. No apologies needed for your spelling or grammer, you seem to do better than some of us that were born and raised right here in the US. Susan

My word Sabrina!

What a small world. It always amazes me. The "famous" guy you'r talking about is Chris Barnard, I think. Sadly he passed away last year.. But the hospital where he performed his first heart transplant is about 15 min drive from our house.

Hope you had a lovely week

Hi Judy! Yes, it was such a pleasue to work with that physician. He told us stories about Dr. Barnhard when he was a member of his team. I loved his accent. He made all of the ordinary words sound so much prettier. LOL ( we all have a bit of a southern accent here and when he said "transducers" it just sounded so much more intreresting) LOL
