OT: Selling on Ebay

Hi, I have seen that some of you sell on Ebay and I was wondering about how you got started? I have some supplies I'd like to sell (cause I have more than one or even two of the same ;))

1) Did you need to get a Tax ID#? 2) Do u have to setup some kind of special account? I already have my own that I've used to buy things. 3) Do I have to pay taxes on what I sell? 4) Anything else that comes to mind that I'm forgetting to ask.

I already went all over ebay's site but all it tells me is how to setup my paypal acct, list items, etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe Mindi can answer this question the best for you - she sells lots of kits on eBay! (At least I think you do, right Mindi?)

Hiya Yes i sell alllll the time on ebay.. scrappin and non scrappin..

1) no tax ID is needed 2)no special account is needed.. if you already have a Ebay account.. your good to go 3)you have to pay a listing fee when you list.. then a fee which is a % of the total amount of auction SOLD 4)Paypal is the safest and easiest and best way to get payments.. I also take cash at buyers own risk and money orders.. but alot of banks wont honor MO so becareful on that one 5)shipping can eat all your profits away.. so make sure you do correct shipping.. dont guess.. go to post office and weigh it BEFORE you list the shipping price..I always send priority with del conf.. just to cover my own butt.. things happen in this day and age and you have to take of yourself.. 6)you must add pictures of everything.. the best you can.. there are lots of free hosting sites.. use one.. dont use Ebays hosting.. its expensive.. but PICTURES! if no pics.. youll be lucky to sell anything. 7)check your email often.. people will email you with questions and the faster you can reply to their questions.. the better.. people like a response close to when they ask a question.. 8)Ebay sends out a invoice at end of auction.. BUT you should send your own.. with the total of their auction and the payments you accept.. 9)make sure to put a time period on your payment rec'd.. other wise you will be waiting forever! good number is 10 days after end of auction.. payment is to be in your hands! other wise NEG feedback will be left along with a complaint to Ebay.. I rarely have this happen.. but for some reason... when i dont say.. sure enough.. i get the lollygaggers.. and payment comes a month or 2 after.. so cover that in auction discription if there is anything else you need help on.. feel free to ask .. theres alot of us that sell here in the group... or email me snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.com enjoy!
