First-Time Selling on Ebay, New Website

As you may have read in another thread, I sold my first bracelet to someone other than mother yesterday. Very encouraging. Especially since I didn't get into a gallery I was trying for and I wasn't able to get my application submitted in time for tomorrow's big art fair . I beefed up my inventory in anticipation of tomorrow's fair and THEN received notice I didn't get in. Totally my own fault though so I can't really whine as much as I'd like to.

So anyway. My husband and I have been talking about how to sell a few of my things to help defray costs and I've told him basically what I've heard here about eBay: handmade, beaded jewelry just doesn't sell on eBay. He told me that he didn't want to hear me say that again until I'd tried it (of course, he said it in a nice way), so I tossed a couple items up for auction this evening. I have extremely low expectations and am looking at this as just one more learning experience. I thought it was actually kind of fun going through the 13 bazillion steps it takes to list an item on eBay the first time. Yes, that's just the kind of person I am.

Also finished up my new and improved website last night. (Well, not

*finished* exactly, but it's in good enough shape to let people know about it.) Yes, it's rather humorous that I've sold a total of six items (five of them to my mom) and have already gone through a re-branding campaign. :-) But the website stuff is fun and I'd rather work on that than a business plan. Big thanks to Kandice for showing me how to tweak the photos. I think they look a lot better now.

The bracelets look nice. But I would suggest you state an honest starting price. I almost never bid when there's a reserve. Why state a price someone can bid, if that bid will not be considered?

I think you're right. I was having trouble figuring out all my options and was just sort of winging it as I went along. I'll probably take your advice next time, though -- thanks!

site. clean, clear, easy to navigate. the only thing i *might* change would be to make the text a tad darker [easier to read, darker].

good job!

Thank you, Margie! (I have another one that's the same basic idea with pink Mavis beads. Where the teal one has cubes, though, the pink one has Swarovski crystal bicones. Very pretty. Unfortunately, the pink one is a lot more difficult to photograph well so you don't really get the full effect.)

appreciated.

Thanks, Vicki! I will see what other choices I have for text color. I probably can't bring myself to go with black even though that would be the best!
