OT: Very trying day

First off the roofer came and took my roof off Tuesday when then should have done it Monday or Wednesday. Why was Tuesday a bad day to take it off... because it rained Wednesday ALL DAY LONG! They put plastic over my roof sparingly and there are leaks and destroyed sheet rock everywhere. The garage ceiling collapsed in one spot. Not that my staying home all day would have helped, but my pregnant girlfriend went into the hospital for an emergency C section. Her husband called and crying said, "You just need to come now!" So, I made sure all the pans to catch drips were emptied and off I went.

They ended up inducing her and monitoring the baby's heart rate. It was suspected her cord was wrapped around her neck. Some how with a few scary moments her daughter was born safely with no C section. AND she did have her cord wrapped around her neck.

As I was calling the girlfriend list with the news there was one friend we couldn't get a hold of all day. She was going to come to the hospital and never made it. Finally, about 6pm she calls and she had fallen at a gas station earlier in the day and broke her leg. She was in emergency surgery to fix it. She's going to be OK too.

I came home to a house that had drips and water damage in every room of my house. I just couldn't be sad about it. I know the contractors will fix it. And it just seemed minor in the scheme of things. I was going to cancel my monthly scrap night tomorrow, but then I thought you know what I need that night! Fortunately, the ceiling above the table isn't going to collapse so we're scrapping!

I need a cocktail! Lynne

My gosh Lynne, what a day! I am glad that mom and baby are ok, it sucks about your gf's broken leg, and the contractors, should be linched...but then again, they don't do that anymore, so you'll have to settle for givng them he-l and staying on their case.

Good for you for scrapping though! Hope none of your collectibles were damaged. I guess when you see a newborn struggle for life, a leaky roof shrinks to rather insignificantly bothersome in the great scheme of things.

Here's a big hug for you though... just in case you need it!

Oh my goodness Lynne.. I'm glad your girlfriend had a healthy baby and I hope that your friend with the broken leg will be ok.

I'm sorry about your house.

You have fun on your scrapbook night, you deserve it.

Oh, man. It definetly sounds like you need a good drink. So how is the baby. Was the baby born very early. I will keep them in my prayers. Even your poor friend who feel at the gas station. What a terrible thing to happen. Good luck on the roof. Yes, the scrapping night might be a good thing to relief stress. Remember no drinks on the table.

Life does have a way of putting things in perspective, doesn't it? I was just wondering--if you had a cocktail first and then scrapbooked, how did it come out. LOL. Hope things calm down for you. In the meantime, it's always nice to have scrapbooking as an escape.

Oh my! Yes, you do need a scrapping night! I'm glad to hear everyone is ok. Sorry to hear about the roof, and the contractors should have their rear ends kicked! (Don't these guys watch the weather???) But a leaky roof does pale into comparison of a baby struggling for life. Glad to hear the little one is ok!!! Now get some scrapping done tonight and have some stress relief! :-)

LYNNE - WHAT A DAY GIRL! I guess the expression "When it rains ..it pours" fits the bill here. My prayers for your friend and her new baby and for the friend who broke her leg! And no mercy for the contractors!!!! I'm sure they will have to make it right!!! Hang in there!

Thank you M-C I do need a hug! I have the best contractors in the world they just happened to subcontract with a numbnut. Today the contractors were out bright and early hauling all the wet insulation out of the house. They'll be back tomorrow even earlier. The contractor said he had a good long talk with the roofer, so it sounds like they have things settle to getting my house back in shape.

Broken leg friend ... she broke her tibia in 6 places. She went in for emergency surgery today. She was put off yesterday and scheduled for Sunday. I couldn't believe they'd let her go so long. But she's a bossy b*&$# and I'm sure she got them to move it up. haha

The ambulance drivers didn't want to carry her to the ambulance (she's about

400lbs.)... so they told her she had a bad sprain and she was to walk. She told them oh no I'm in too much pain. So, they got mad man handled her and she has bruises from that. I was just livid she was treated like that. I'm sure she's not the 1st big girl they've ever had to help. They man handle the wrong woman though... did I mention she's an assertive b*&$#. hahaha you definitely want her on your side. I said you go Kelli get'em!

The baby was born 2 weeks early. I went to see them today and the baby is perfect. She was all pinked up. Her hands and feet were still purple when I left yesterday it was nice to see her in a proper baby color.

I have those cup holder slash trash cans. Bought one for each scrapper and I keep them at my house. We'll definitely have cocktails in those holders this week after I give them the water tour. haha

We'll be having cocktails during scrapbooking. haha

I just felt whipped today. I think the 2 days of emotion from all sides just hit me. I wasn't feeling too sorry for myself, but I was wondering why I have such bad luck. Just about then I found a dollar bill in the street while walking to school to pick up my daughter. I got to thinking my luck had changed and it was time to get my positive attitude back.

You are SO funny, but I have to say when I got your wonderful RAK... I dumped the box on the bed to sort they paint from the peanuts and I made a pile of the Stickles and a pile of the other paint. She kept snuffling ONLY the Stickles I don't know what they make it with, but my dog loves it. I said, "OH NO YOU DON'T!" and scoop the glues back in the box and put them up high.

I am so glad to hear it, Lynne. Thank goodness you do have a good contractor. I guess the roofer will get the hit for all the extra work that now needs to be done. Serves him right!

Sounds like they really messed up with the roof. I hope it all gets fixed soon. I'm glad your friend's little girl was born in good health. I hope your other friend heals quickly. I'll keep all in my thoughts.
