Question about editing email addy

Aug 28, 2005 5 Replies

I notice some people have "removenospam" or some version of it, inserted into their email addresses. How do you and where do you edit that? Do I noticed I have been getting more spam, and am trying to eliminate it! Thanks in advance! Linda C

Linda, In outlook express, you can go to the newsgroups header and rightclick, and you go to properties. There in general you find user information, where you can put your user name and email address. Some folks use a totally bogus address, and some use a real one with "no spam", "invalid" or something similar to foil robot programs that harvest addresses from newsgroups. This is far from foolproof, but it helps a little. I'm not sure if other email programs work the same way- I've never used anything else. Hope this helps!

thanks Mel! I will have to check out the google properties also, since I read the RCS through Google too.

that wouldn't work on my reader. I have to go to:

Tools Accounts Then click on the news tab Highlight the news thingie, then clickon properties There you can change your email address. I have mine set to go to an email address I never use.

Thanks, Cleo! That's the same screen, but a much less complicated way to get there. I've used OE for 10 years, and I'm still learning my way around. I guess it also helps that Windows has at least three ways to do *everything*.
