What is the difference in premium dye ink and pigment dye? What's the best ink to use for scrapbooking?

With regard to scrapbooking.... if an ink packaging states it is "acid-free", then you should be fine, whether you decide on dye or pigment inks. We have recently had a discussion on the NG about Clearsnap's use of the term "archival quality" or "archival safe" on their Fluid Chalk Cat's Eye Ink Pads, popular for distressing work. Clearsnap's direct response to several of us was less than clear cut, so I would suggest if you are in doubt, don't use them! They do make a Pigment Cat's Eye which is acid-free but would take longer to dry. I know that Sandy bought one after I pointed out to her that there was a question mark over the fluid chalk. If you want a copy of Clearsnaps response email me directly and I will forward you a copy :o)

Thank you very much for the link. That helped a lot! Currently, I only have a couple of ink pads and they have "Ink It Up" on the cover. I noticed yesterday after I got home that the lable said premium dye ink where as my other couple of ink pads had pigment dye ink. I was wondering what the difference was. Now I know.
