I've never been on a cruise before. What kind of spending money should I be saving? I'm not really into souvenirs, but would be interested in one of the extra activities at Cozumel. Is there much in the way of extra expenses on a cruise? Sandy

Sandy, I have talked to a couple of friends of mine who have gone on a cruise. Any Pop or soda is extra, alcoholic beverages, any shopping you might want to do on the ship, souvenir pictures that they take on board, any shopping or eating in Cozumel, cab fare in Cozumel, gratuities for the workers on the ship..I am not quite sure how tips and gratuities work. I hope someone else has some information about gratuities. Anyone else have any ideas? HTH

There is a list of the different excursions available and a price range for each one. I like the parasailing and of course the golf. Does anyone going golf?

Any excursions you take are extra. There should be a list of them on the Carnival website.

The gratuities are for your cabin attendant, waiter, assistant waiter and head waiter in the main dining room. I'm not sure how Carnival does it, but on Royal Caribbean, you can pre-pay them and they give you envelopes and vouchers that you can give to each person. You can also give them cash if you want. It is something like $3.25 per day for the cabin attendant and waiter, $2.25 per day for the assistant waiter and $1.75 per day for the head waiter. These are suggested prices, you can always give them more if they provide exceptional service.
