scanner question

I am looking to buy a new scanner. I have many old family pictures I would like to scrap and I just inherited many old family negatives. I want to scan them so the quality will be great. Can anyone share with me their suggestions for a scanner. I hope this is not a duplicate question. If it is please accept my apology. Thank you for any suggestions you may have. GBR

I have an Epson, and I love it. I had an HP, and there was a flaw in the glass, and their customer service was awful.

The one i have allows negative scanning, and was pretty inexpensive - I think $89.

If you have a bigger budget, I reccomend getting at least some of the more important ones professionally scanned and printed.

My 2 cents,

I just bought a HP all in one (scanner/printer/copier) and so far I like it.

I had a canon and love it until there wasn't any more patches after Windows ME (it originally ran on Windows 95) it still works but it is in a box.

I also have an HP All-in-One. What I *really* like is the software that comes with that device. I've been able to get some amazing scans of photographs that were dark and muddy originally, and by the time I got through adjusting them in the software I got a *much* improved print. I wouldn't have believed that the copy could be superior to the original.
